bluebelt Posted August 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2016 We are cruising on the Carnival Breeze in Sept and was trying to book shuttles to and from the airport and the ship. Getting to the ship isn't a problem. Getting back from the ship the time available are 9:00 AM or 12:00. We have a 4:45 flight so either time would be fine. I am not thrilled with sitting in the airport for hours but at least we are there with plenty of time to spare. What is a realistic time to be off the ship if we were to do express walk off? Would we be able to easily make the 9:00 shuttle? Our last cruise was out of Miami on the Getaway and the express walk off line was insane and took forever to get through (I can't recall what time we were off by). If we were to take the 12:00 shuttle is there somewhere nearby to grab breakfast/lunch while we wait since we should be off the ship well before then if we do not do express walk off and do not want to sit outside the cruise terminal in the heat? Thanks :D
dlt2707 Posted August 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2016 Welcome to Texas! From the cruise terminal in Galveston there are several options for lunch. The Strand is also just a short walk for shopping and more places to eat. You can also opt for a short cab ride to the Galveston Seawall (beach) for more restaurant options. The Pleasure Pier is also an option. From seafood to steak to Italian to Tex Mex plus more seafood, you should find many options. Enjoy your stay. Kev_99 Posted August 13, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2016 One of my favorite restaurants is within walking distance. It's the Gumbo Bar, if you like gumbo, give it a shot. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
BlondieB Posted August 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2016 (edited) There are quite a few restaurants right by the cruise terminal at Pier 21 but since you'll be off the ship in the morning, I'm not sure they'll be open (think seafood restaurants). So for a VERY good breakfast/brunch, hitch a ride over to the Sunflower Cafe (a mile or so, I wouldn't walk it) . Food is delicious....and they have mimosas :D. You can find their menu on TA, Yelp or their website. I was just there this weekend and I think I'm still full  Edited August 15, 2016 by BlondieB
Galveston Cruiser Posted August 15, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 15, 2016 For breakfast downtown there is Star Drug, eatCetera and Tremont Hotel. I am sure there are others, but these come to mind. By car, Sunflower and Mosquito Cafe are on 14th St. Both are wonderful
BallFour4 Posted August 26, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 26, 2016 You'd make 9am with zero problems. We leave the ship, load the car and drive 45 miles inland before 9 most cruises. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

bluebelt Posted September 8, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted September 8, 2016 We were planning on booking Galveston Express. There does not seem to be very many options getting to the port.
JaniceB Posted September 13, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 13, 2016 Galveston Limo had some different shuttle times than the ones you are looking at.
