mps69_1999 Posted August 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2016 This has been posted on the RCI section, but was advised that I might get a few more ideas here too. We’re doing a Transatlantic cruise in November starting in Malaga and finishing in Fort Lauderdale on the Rhapsody of the Seas. Now the only issue we got is when we arrive in the US. From past experience we’ll be off the ship really early, however our flight back to London isn’t until about 2100 hours. RCI have managed to secure a day room from about 10am to 1600 at no extra cost to us. At the moment I don’t know where is it. I’ve tried googling day rooms in Fort Lauderdale, but there are too many to narrow it down. Have any of you guys made use of these rooms, and does anyone know what hotel it might be? Just hoping to find out in advance so we can find out what there is around the hotel, and what we can do to kill the time, apart from sit in the hotel or at the pool. JohninDC Posted August 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2016 Not sure where RCI has a contract for day rooms, but many FLL cruisers report using day rooms at a budge place near the airport - Roadway Inn - when they have late flights.
capriccio Posted August 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2016 The Fort Lauderdale hotel most frequently mentioned for day rooms is the Rodeway Inn and Suites. The Renaissance Hotel has been mentioned as offering them occasionally but one needs to call the hotel for info. Try doing a search on this board for day rooms in Fort Lauderdale and it should return lots of reviews on Rodeway and a few comments on the Renaissance. Given that this your day room is arranged by the cruise line - and there are probably a large number of rooms involved - it might be at a hotel that does not normally offer them to the independent traveler. Lido_Deck Posted August 25, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 25, 2016 (edited) Once again...The term "Day Room" is a misnomer. You are simply renting a room and not spending the night in it. Any hotel will allow you to check in early if they have a room ready either from sitting empty the night before or someone checked out early in the morning and Housekeeping has already cleaned it. The time of year is important in doing this. During high season it's more difficult to get an early check in because the hotels are usually at peak occupancy, but you're talking about November so you can pretty much take your pick. If you choose an airport area hotel then you could take advantage of their airport shuttle, but if you are willing to spend some money on Uber or a taxi then you could stay near the beach, so decide what is important to you and book. P.S. You are flying home from FLL, correct? Edited August 25, 2016 by Lido_Deck
