Fishkillbill Posted August 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2016 I have read in many, many posts about how terrible Celebrities gluten free pizza is. All places we get gluten free pizza use frozen dough to start with. Some have better toppings and cook the pizza better than others. Doesn't Celebrity read any of these posts? Why do they continue buying this sub standard frozen dough?
Cruizen Susan Posted August 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2016 I feel your pain!! I waited 20 minutes for my gluten free pizza on the Equinox in March, and it was terrible. I'd rather do without. I get a better gluten free pizza from my local pizzaria here in the city. Believe it or not, NCL uses much better dough for their gluten free items. bakcd Posted August 26, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2016 Holland America uses a premade crust and it is edible, unlike Celebrity. Have you seen this news item? http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=7190 Evidently Celebrity will team with Dine Aware in November 2016. No details except that "the integration is intended to make a difference in the dining experiences of cruisers with special dietary needs". We have some food allergies and "dietary needs" so I read all I could about Food Aware. I think it's just a program to make food service employees (waiters, Maitre Ds, etc.) more aware of the different types of food allergies and how to handle cross contamination, etc. Nothing was said about actually changing any recipes. PiratessLooksAt40 Posted September 4, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2016 I found the pizza on the Summit quite good! As long as it was hot. Once it sat for a little bit, it would crumble into pieces. But the flavor was better than anything I can get around home.
