Has anyone done this excursion in Skagway? It is quite expensive but seems like a good mix of bucket list items to do in Alaska. If anyone has done this and has comments on it, it would be very much appreciated!

Best to include a link to the tour if you want feedback.

Are you interested in all 3 activities ? If not, you can break down the pricing by visiting each vendors web site. You can gold pan and dog cart at Caribou Crossing or at Klondike Gold Fields about a mile outside of Skagway.

If there are 2 or more in your party, you might save money by renting a car instead of taking the train, then add on additional activities at one of the locations listed above.( check out this trip report from jmele999 ... great photos of the drive from Skagway AND dog carting at Caribou Crossing. I think it was $35.) http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2231881&page=8

Another option to price .... train one way and independent shuttle bus the other. Look thru trip reports for vendors .... Dyea Dave ad Chilkoot come to mind. You can also read reviews on the Alaska forum of tripadvisor.com
