Swampbaby Posted August 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Anyone know if the handicap cabins are ready when we board? I know there are only 17 on one ship and about that number on others.
StolidCruiser Posted August 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) Cabins ready upon boarding is not a benefit associated with handicapped accessible staterooms. FYI - the VISTA alone has 35 handicapped accessible cabins. Haven't charted out the others yet. Edited August 29, 2016 by StolidCruiser
BeachChik Posted August 29, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Handicapped cabins are ready at the same time as all other cabins. The only ones that would be ready earlier are those with fttf or platinum guests.

StolidCruiser Posted August 29, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) 35 out of 1823. There are more Havana cabins than accessible cabins. 39 of them. And 102 spa suites. The Magic and the Dream also have 35 accessible cabins but no Havana cabins. Is that somehow better? Swampbaby Posted August 29, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Glory has a total of 24 of which 2 are balcony. Legend only has 17 with 9 having a balcony with some of those obstructed views.
Sweet Dutch Girl Posted August 29, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2016 If you think about it the reason that balcony cabins are not HDCP accessible is two fold. One, there is a lip at the door to keep the water from the balcony out and it isn't and really can't be made to confirm to accessible requirements, and second the door has an automatic closer and is not controlled electronically. Also, with most balconies once you place furniture on the balcony there is no ability to turn a wheelchair so it just doen't make sense to to make the interiors of these cabins accessible on a grand scale when the balcony isn't accessible.
