xxoocruiser Posted September 3, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2016 (edited) Might have to rent a scooter for our cruise on the IOS out of Port Everglades. What is the average daily cost of a rental? You're best to phone either http://www.Carevations.com or http://www.SpecialNeedsatSea.com directly. Both have no problem giving a no-obligation cost. Also neither company will call and email to solicit business. Everyone's average cost is different and the rental cost is based on the following factors. Number of rental days Port of Embarkation Port of Disembarkation Weight and Height of end user Weight capacity of scooter required for end user Type of scooter required ( Standard, Full-size, Bariatric) If you purchase insurance to cover damage and or full replacement of the scooter Edited September 3, 2016 by xxoocruiser
2 to cruise Posted September 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2016 Might have to rent a scooter for our cruise on the IOS out of Port Everglades. What is the average daily cost of a rental? We just rented a full size scooter for my husband for a 7 day cruise from Scootaround (formerly Care Vacations). It was $245.00 plus we added on a Basic Equipment Protection Plan for $35.00 and a Cancellation Protection Plan for $10.00.
Boozebabe Posted September 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) I would make a visit to your local medical supply company. Many of them rent scooters at a much lower cost. And you will have it to use thru airports and getting to and from the ship. The 2 companies mentioned that rent and deliver directly to the ship will place your scooter in your cabin. getting to that cabin may be difficult. Just a thought. Another thought is that if he will be needing one in his future beyond the cruise, one can be purchased starting at several hundred dollars. Mine has a weight capacity of 350 lbs and was $1600.00 It is the same scooter that is rented on ship. The standard scooter that both http://www.CareVacations.com and http://www.SpecialNeedsatSea.com currently rent is the Pride Go-Go Sport that has a weight capacity of 325 lbs. Retail List Price is $1,925.00 but can be purchased on line for around $1,229.00. There are several other models in the Pride Go-Go series that cost less. If insurance is not assisting in the cost than it pays to shop around as purchasing on-line more often than not results in $ savings.
twin123185 Posted September 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 19, 2016 My insurance will cover a portion. It remains to be seen if I am limited as to where to purchase. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Forums

When i purchased mine at a medical supply company I told them the price that I found online and they matched the price for the same scooter. I have the Pride Victory 10. I like the idea of having someone close who can help me with any problems that may occur. My salesman told me they rent the scooter I bought for about $100 per week. They know about the 22" doors etc.

However being that the width of the Pride Victory 10 is 22.5" it will not fit through the doorway of a standard cabin on most cruise ships even with the arm rests removed. Though most standard cabin doorways are 23" wide the actual threshold clearance is only 21" since 2" has to be deducted for the depth of the door as it does not open flush to the wall. You noted on another thread that you were able to get your Pride Victory 10 Scooter through the doorway of Suite with the armrests removed. So as not to mislead anyone reading this thread/post it needs to be stressed that "Suites" are NOT considered to be a standard cabin and generally have a little wider doorway. FYI even when a Pride Scooter is purchased on-line and service is required whether still under warranty or not it can be done locally. You're not required to go back to the on-line provider unless of course the scooter was received completely damaged in the first the first place. All one has to do is contact Pride for the name/address of the nearest approved service provider. Edited September 20, 2016 by xxoocruiser

All one has to do is contact Pride for the name/address of the nearest approved service provider. I used my Pride Victory 10 on the Glory this past February. Although it was a tight fit, it did fit thru the doorway of a suite cabin with armrests off. I had to get a good straight aim at the doorway but after 2 or 3 times I was a pro at getting into the cabin the first try. Trying to plan ahead for another cruise I was concerned that it would not fit a regular cabin door. So I used my mini tape measure I carry in my purse and measured a regular door and it was exactly the same width as our suite door. I am convinced it will fit. I can't always afford a suite so will have to figure out parking it inside a balcony cabin. Wish I could afford a Havana Suite as I would park it on the lanai since they have access from the promenade. Now that would be convenient. For the benifit of others reading this thread , yes there are several different models in the Pride GoGo series of mobility scooters. However the models that http://www.Carevacations.com and http://www.SpecialNeedsatSea.com rent can be either the 3 wheel Pride GoGo Elite Traveler HD or the 3 wheel Pride GoGo Sport depending on the port of embarkation. If KrusierKat purchased the 2 scooters new on the internet the model that was most likely purchased was the 3 wheel Pride Travel Pro which sells on-line for $599.00.
