Mickey_Maniac Posted September 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2016 Sorry of this has been asked before. I did a search and didn't see anything about this. Can someone please explain specialty dining pricing to this newbie? For example, I can purchase the Chops package for $35/pp USD or the Giovanni's for $30/pp. Is this the fixed price for any meal on the menu, or this just a reservation fee that is applied as a credit on the bill? I realize drinks probably aren't included. Does the same concept apply to any/all of the other specialty restaurants? Thanks in advance. Clarea Posted September 13, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2016 (edited) It's confusing. Some restaurants are a fixed fee. Some are a la carte. Some are a mixture. One is fixed on some ships and a la carte on other ships. Chops is a mixture. The cover charge gives you a choice of most entrees, but there are some that have additional charges. Giovanni's is fixed, all entrees are available for the fixed fee. Sabor is fixed on Freedom and Navigator, but a la carte on Oasis class. Lordnlkon Posted September 13, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2016 If you are thinking of doing several specialty dining venues, look at doing one of the packages. They can usually save you a little bit of money. On our liberty cruise last may we did the 5 night dining package for $100. We ate in chops twice, giovanni's twice and sabor once with the package. If we had bought it all a la carte it would have been $55 more per person: Chops $35 x2 = $70 Giovanni's $30 x 2 = $60 Sabor $25 x 1 = $25 total = $155. So overall a good deal if you are going to do mostly specialty restaurants.
Mickey_Maniac Posted September 13, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted September 13, 2016 We're only going on a 5 night cruise so will probably only do 1 or 2 specialty. We actually want to do the MDR at least once and some of the other options the other nights.
Moonarino Posted September 13, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2016 Which ship? There might be a little difference in pricing; e.g., on Oasis, my Cruise Planner (under a current booking for next month) currently shows Chops at $42, and the 5-night package is $115. But, they also offer a 3-night specialty dining pkg for $85 per adult.
