ChristieDPT Posted October 26, 2017 #54 Share Posted October 26, 2017 My husband and I were on the Dream in May 2017. We absolutely adored Anca (not sure of the spelling) and we were with a bunch of friends that also were Anca devotees. She learned our tastes in the first day and would have my husband's drink ready for him if he walked up to the bar - even if there was a large crowd (we like to tip big the first day and often throughout the cruise). Very pleasant and knowledgeable mixologist. She came up with the perfect off-menu drink for just about all of us in the group. From what I hear, she has just gone on vacation and I don't know which ship she will be returning to. We sail on the Freedom from Galveston in January, and we're hoping to meet another mixologist with equivalent skills and personality - the Alchemy Bar is an unparalleled experience - it was our "hang out" spot on the last cruise! Rare csoud68 Posted October 28, 2017 #55 Share Posted October 28, 2017 What's an alchemist on a carnival ship? Seems to me that it's p just another word for "bartender".
Rare Saint Greg Posted October 28, 2017 #56 Share Posted October 28, 2017 What's an alchemist on a carnival ship? Seems to me that it's p just another word for "bartender". They’re special bartenders who work at the alchemy bar.

I second the vote for Anca! I was on the Dream twice this summer and had a blast with her, Elena and Vlad. Hanging out at that bar made my whole trip worthwhile. They were such a joy to be around. Good Luck!
Mommabear2Five Posted October 28, 2017 #58 Share Posted October 28, 2017 I didn’t read through the whole thread, but the absolute best Alchemy bartender is Parvis. I’ve sailed with his 3 times and he is amazing. He’s currently on a break but will be back on the Sunshine in December.
SadieN Posted October 28, 2017 #59 Share Posted October 28, 2017 What's an alchemist on a carnival ship? Seems to me that it's p just another word for "bartender". Specialist bartender. They have the ability to customize drinks to your taste. Realized their true abilities on one of our HI cruises. Bar ran out of some of the normal produce and had to improvise. cruise_everywhere Posted October 28, 2017 #61 Share Posted October 28, 2017 There is a FB group that is dedicated to the Alchemy Bar and usually you can get an idea of who's where/when. We're on the Pride in 3 weeks and can't wait!

Alchemy1970 Posted September 24, 2018 #67 Share Posted September 24, 2018 Anyone been on the Triumph lately? Wondering who the Alchemist are. One of my favorite Alchemist Anca is now taking a contract in Australia. Very sad to here this but ill see her again. Love all the Alcamist that I’ve met. They are the best on the ship at what they do. Any help would be appreciated.
aliciajayn Posted September 25, 2018 #68 Share Posted September 25, 2018 For those who have asked, Dario is no longer on the ships. He left for a while several years ago and then came back for a brief stint after trying his hand at bartending in the US and Canada. He's now back in Croatia pursuing photography! Johanna was another one of our favorites - she and her wonderful fiance Cosmin (who at the time was a waiter in the steakhouse and worked at the coffee bar) got married and had a little girl! She is no longer working on the ships either. Alchemy crew are the reason we keep coming back to Carnival - they really are the best! We've also loved many others over the years and still keep in touch with many of them - Dzenana, Corinna, Vera, Inga, Jaelle. Tell them Alicia says Hi! if you see them :)
O&P Cruiser Posted September 25, 2018 #69 Share Posted September 25, 2018 On the Pride last week were Katie & Andrei. I met Andrei at the Alchemy Bar on the Liberty and he is awesome. I then ran into him a couple years later at the Alchemy Bar on the Pride. He has since been promoted to a bar manager and floats around the Glory. Coincidence that I was able to enjoy three cruises with him and his wonderful wife. I have also enjoyed Desi on the Miracle and Jakub on the Glory. treasurespast Posted September 26, 2018 #70 Share Posted September 26, 2018 For someone who doesn't drink, can you please explain what is special about the Alchemy Bar, and what are Alchemists compared to bartenders? Thanks.
momonthego17 Posted September 28, 2018 #71 Share Posted September 28, 2018 For a non-alcoholic drink it’s kinda like going to a smoothie maker and telling them what you like, then they concoct it. And sometimes they use herbs, orange peel that they light on fire or an infused simple syrup that takes your smoothie to the next level. Alchemy Bar is like a top chef for drinks. I hope that helps[emoji16] Sent from my iPad using Forums
