I won, I won - Thank you Budget Queen. My first bid for SEATAC Hotel was accepted . We will stay at the DoubleTree post-cruise . I hope the Hotel quality is the same as all other DoubleTrees since I have NEVER pay that "much" for a Hotel before I am happy, thanks again

Jim,
We got the Doubletree on Priceline, I was happy for awhile since the price is unbelievable. I had stayed with Doubletree once in awhile while on business trips and had good experience with them (specially the homemade cookies at checkin ). However, I am worry since I don't remember I ever paid for a room at this price Beside, someone from another thread had stated that the Airport Area is not safe

How was your experience with the Doubletree near SEATAC? How was the area? I know priceline rule (non-refundable), however, it's still early in the game and I can just ditch the Hotel instead of putting my family in danger

Please advice.

Here are some reviews of the Seatac Doubletree:

For $35, I think you got a good deal.

Florida Beach, the airport area is safe. I don't know where those rumors come from. Being near the airport, there are prostitutes in the area but of course you can ignore that.

Thanks guys . Travel often, I can deal with anything coming my way, just don't want to expose my family to unneccessary dangers

I'm with Bill also, Where do those rumors come from? There has been prostitution up and down the highway, but they have really cleaned the area up over the past few years. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at a hotel near the airport. We have several times when we have an early morning flight and we don't live that terribly far away. Your family will be in no danger there. But it is just like any place you would stay, just use common sense and you will be fine.

Have a great time here in Seattle and a wonderful cruise.

Hulagirl

We were on the 5/15 Diamond. I used Priceline and asked for a 4 star (I think that was the highest category) and bid $79 - got the Sheraton downtown ($169 on the hotel sites I looked at). I also called the Town car service and had a Lincoln Town Car waiting when we got our bags for $35. A bit more than a cab, and double the ahuttle costs I guess - but it was nice to go that way. Took a cab from the hotel to the dock for $10 the next day. All that was great. Then we got to the dock.......:-)

I would strongly suggest you not stay by the airport, and instead stay downtown. We were at the Sheraton, I got the room on hotwire for $95.
Friends stayed at the Roosevelt which was nearby for $50, don't know who they booked through. There's lots to see and do downtown, don't waste your time staying by the airport. It's a $10 taxi to the ship from downtown.
Enjoy!

The Doubletree at the airport is nice as is the Marriot. If I were coming in a day early I would stay at either of these hotels then cab or limo to the pier. (limo prices can be negotiated, taxi is on the clock) Have dinner at 13 Coins restaurant (you can look it up on internet) Marriot has a great covered pool and nice restaurant, Yukon Jacks. The airport area is fine, like anywhere else you don't want to leave your purse/computer on the front seat of your car with your door unlocked!

Enjoy your stay!

Florida Peach,

I just noticed your question to me about my opinion of the Doubletree at Seatac.

Yesterday, I noticed you asked the same question on the Princess Roll Call Board and I answered there. In summary, I think your concerns are unfounded. I saw nothing that would cause me not to stay there, or in that area, on our next cruise out of Seattle.

I’d be surprised if you find the hotel and the area unacceptable. Of course, if you are looking for more than just a place to sleep overnight before your cruise, such as sightseeing, tours of the area, nightlife, etc., then the airport is not the best place to stay because of the distance from the downtown area.

Jim

Hulagirl, thank you for your responses. I think I made a right choice .

dperry and bjkTX, we stay at the Doubletree post-cruise so we can take advantage of the shuttle service early in the morning. We are meeting some friends with cars on the 11th so transportation would be no problem . We will stay downdown pre-cruise at the Westin

Jim, thanks for answering me again. I was worried out of my mind therefore posting everywhere hoping to find some reassurance

momthecruisedirector, I checked the 13 Coins Restaurant reviews. Sounds like a nice choice. Thanks

  I still don't believe I paid $32 for a Hotel room
