Balloons???

Can you bring inflated balloons on-board? What about bringing them deflated and taking them somewhere to be inflated?

As long as they'll fit in the scanner.

No tanked helium allowed. Need to blow them up yourself the old fashioned way.

I guess the question is more of why you want to bring them if the are allowed or not. I know for a recent question regarding a scattering of ashes the subject of balloons came up.

 

From Carnivals FAQ:

Ashes and flowers may be dispersed but not plastic materials such as plastic ribbons, plastic flowers, plastic urns, balloons, etc. Biodegradable salt urns can be used as long as non-toxic glues are used to seal the top.

 

Now f you want to decorate the room for something special go for it. Just remember no tape on the walls. Your best bet will be to bring them uninflated and blow them up the old fashion way.

Hot air from your mouth! You can't bring helium on board and I don't believe you will find any on board.

You can always order decorations from the fun shop but there will not be any balloons.

With or without helium, balloons are bad for the environment when not disposed of properly. It is sad to be cruising and come upon balloon(s) floating on the open seas. What is worse is the hazard they present to sea turtles and other life.

I asked this question when I was onboard a ship in July because I will be celebrating my 60th birthday on a cruise in January. The question was taken to the Head of Security and the Head of the Environmental Safety Dept. and I was told that I COULD bring on balloons that were filled with helium, but that I could not bring a helium tank. Thank you! That is exactly what I was wondering. I am not burying anyone at sea or decorating a room I trying to mark a meeting place so hot air wouldn't work. Also I will be sure to dispose of it properly!
