Traveling to Marigot

Keep in mind that much of the road from Marigot back to the port (or Phillipsburg) is a basic 2 lane road....with plenty of traffic as you near afternoon rush hour. And bad things can happen on this road. When we rented a condo on the island (in Grand Case) we had 2 days out of 7...when there were traffic delays (due to minor accidents) on that same road. So if you are far away on the French side, its best to give yourself plenty of extra time to get back to the area near the port. We often suggest that folks head back to Phillipsburg a few hours early...and do some shopping before going back to the port. One can always get from Phillipsburg to the port...by walking, water taxi, or even land taxi.
