olvrxyzh Posted September 22, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2016 Can anybody tell me how long it takes to travel from Phillipsburg to Marigot. Thanks!
gtaylor Posted September 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2016 If traveling by rental car or taxi, I would allow 45 minutes, and hope for 30. A bus would take a bit longer. gary
CrazyCruisersRUs Posted September 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2016 And the traffic in the late afternoon can be VERY slow! Make sure you allow enough travel time as the roads are narrow and there are lots of vans and taxis and buses! I am glad we did Bernard's Tours after we saw how bad the traffic was! OCruisers Posted September 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2016 At least 30 by taxi. Allow more time returning in the afternoon. ;)
Rare Hlitner Posted September 22, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2016 Keep in mind that much of the road from Marigot back to the port (or Phillipsburg) is a basic 2 lane road....with plenty of traffic as you near afternoon rush hour. And bad things can happen on this road. When we rented a condo on the island (in Grand Case) we had 2 days out of 7...when there were traffic delays (due to minor accidents) on that same road. So if you are far away on the French side, its best to give yourself plenty of extra time to get back to the area near the port. We often suggest that folks head back to Phillipsburg a few hours early...and do some shopping before going back to the port. One can always get from Phillipsburg to the port...by walking, water taxi, or even land taxi. Hank
