Deluxe motor coach is $65 and the Gold Dome train is $207. ea , Is it worth 400 bucks to take the train?

Also the train departs at 6PM (Seward to Anchorage)-Can I assume there will be plenty of daylight in mid June to see the sights?

Yep plenty of daylight. If you take the train, you'll have time in Seward for a Kenai Fjords wildlife cruise. Another option is a one way car rental with Hertz.

We booked with Alaska Tours and Travel and a rock slide cancelled our dome train ride from Denali to Anchorage, so they bussed us down.

I requested a refund for the difference in cost. Still have not heard from the company yet.

Sunset on June 15 in Seward is 11:30pm, so no worries about daylight !

I've always driven a car or RV so I have no personal experience with the train. But after reading a few hundred trip reports I've learned that the BIG difference in scenery is where the train tracks don't parallel the hwy and you catch great views of the glacier south of Portage.

Look at the train web site for details. From what I read .....Goldstar includes a meal and the seats are forward facing with dome cars. Adventure Class may entail a backward facing seat, meals available for purchase.

I've always enjoyed the drive as it allows me to stop for other points of interest and wildlife sightings.

Alaska.org has video and photo library with these clips:

Or look at youtube under Alaska railroad seward.
