PC Skier Posted October 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2016 We will be in Roatan on Nov. 17. Do we need to book a snorkel excursion ahead or can we find a good one when we get there? Thank you in advance for an advice.
Rare crewsweeper Posted October 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) Looking for a private vendor? Book ahead. Looking for a ship excursion, book once you board your ship, or even the day before you arrive. Harder to get snorkeling excursions once you dock. If you dock in Coxen Hole, there are kiosks att he shopping area for vendors who probably can set you up on an excursion they have. If you dock at Mahogany Bay, private vendors aren't at the cruise port. Outside the main entrance and over a small hill is where pre-booked cruisers will find their drivers. There may be some vendors trolling, or who have room on an excursion, but you'll have to go out there and ask around. Guest 2000 Posted October 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) If you decide to go to West Bay, any one of a number of panga operators would be more than happy to take you to one of the snorkle spots closer to West End...but of you are in West Bay the snorkeling from shore on the wall end of the bay past Infinity's L shaped dock is very good and boat free. Rainy season is said to start sometime in Oct, were it me I would wait to see what the visibility is like before booking a snorkle excursion. smfishgirl Posted October 9, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2016 If you are looking for a great excursion without the crowds check out Free Radical. Beautiful catamaran, great food, lovely location, and away from the rest of the cruise passengers. If you get one outside the port you will snorkel with all the other ship passengers even if you are on a different boat. They take you to the East End and you are on your own!. oceanheart1 Posted October 17, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2016 Book ahead! Going with a local tour group is the best way to see some of the best snorkel spots and the Island. Artley Gentle from Blue Cool Running Tours will do a custom package for you and pick you up from the port and drop you off when finished.
