Passports and Isla Margarita

Initial requirements were to go into effect December 31, 2005. They have been rescheduled to the following:

December 31, 2006 – Requirement applied to all air and sea travel to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.

December 31, 2007 – Requirement extended to all land border crossings as well as air and sea travel.

I believe that the delay was a result of the impact of Katrina on the passport issuing office in New Orleans.

I would strongly encourage folks to get their passports as they are good for 10 years, end any problems with "certified" birth certificates and marriage licenses, and its fun to get the passports stamped in foreign ports...if you like that sort of thing....

Hope this helps..
