MISSYLOU Posted November 1, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2005 Has anyone cruised to Isla Margarita without a passport? We have passports but one in our group does not and HAL says they are not required.
bambam Posted November 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2005 Initial requirements were to go into effect December 31, 2005. They have been rescheduled to the following: December 31, 2006 – Requirement applied to all air and sea travel to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. December 31, 2007 – Requirement extended to all land border crossings as well as air and sea travel. I believe that the delay was a result of the impact of Katrina on the passport issuing office in New Orleans. I would strongly encourage folks to get their passports as they are good for 10 years, end any problems with "certified" birth certificates and marriage licenses, and its fun to get the passports stamped in foreign ports...if you like that sort of thing.... Hope this helps..
chrysalis Posted November 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 23, 2005 to answer your question, you do not need passports to go ashore at Isla Margarita. FYI.....there is a beach right at the dock and a great outdoor market with local crafts...fun to walk about there.
