The Odd Couple Posted October 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2016 We're on a 21-day Caribbean cruise out of Tampa on Oosterdam next March. When the ship arrives back in Tampa mid point, we will obviously have to disembark whilst the ship is cleared. I think I have read that the aquarium is within walking distance of our potential berth. Is this correct, please? Is it within the port confines? Thanks for your help.
tooalto Posted October 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2016 We've never sailed from Tampa but, yes the aquarium is right there and quite a nice one too. You can also pick up a trolley to Ybor City for some lunch and wandering.
tutak Posted October 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2016 On one sailing out of Tampa, the ship was late. Many people walked across the street to the aquarium. Sent from my iPad using Forums
JimnKaren Posted October 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Our first visit to the aquarium was in 1996 shortly after it opened. It was impressive. We visited again January, 2015 (Ryndam was doing that itinerary then). It has expanded and it was more impressive. It is less than 5 minutes to walk there. The is a small restaurant inside. We ate there because we didn't want to go anywhere else. Here is their Web site: http://www.flaquarium.org/ Jim

Rare mightycruisequeen Posted October 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 8, 2016 As others have advised, the aquarium is a very short walk from the pier. It's such a nice way to spend a few hours on turnaround day in Tampa; don't miss it!
c-cruise Posted October 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted October 8, 2016 Yep, right next door. We went there earlier this year while killing time before a flight out of TPA. It's nicely done, but small. Kind of pricey for what you get, but a good way to kill a couple hours. There's an outdoor kids waterpark type area, but it was closed for remodel when we were there. The Odd Couple Posted October 9, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted October 9, 2016 Thanks to everyone for their recommendations. As we will be at sea for two days after leaving Tampa, we wanted to make the most of our day - not just stay on board waiting for sailaway.
