A Knitter Posted November 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2005 Any advice on converting from US to their currency exchange. Is the travelers check card a good option. Do most of the cities take US dollars. Any help on this subject would be most welcome. Thanks in advance. Maria
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2005 Where you can, I would recommend Credit Cards for the best exchange rates. For small items on our South America Cruise earlier this year which mainly involved Chile and Argentina I had no problem using US Dollars. gerena Posted November 13, 2005 #3 Share Posted November 13, 2005 I am still trying to decide. Is using a credit card with the 3% foreign exchange fee still better than cash. I have one that pays me 1%, so that brings it down to 2%Of course the convenience does have merit. Thanks for input.
Splinter Posted November 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2005 We found nearly everyone very willing to take US $ when we went. We had our credit card refused several places in Brazil and paid cash American instead. We also used $1 for tips throughout our cruise. Don't depend solely on credit cards or ATMs.
