Classic Drink Package Gratuity Question

Every time we have sailed with a complementary Classic drink package we have also had complementary prepaid gratuities. We have never been charged to our sea pass anything additional for the gratuities for drinks even though on the slip we get we see the gratuity added, then zeroed out. Does anyone know is that's because of the drink package, the gratuity package or both? On one of our upcoming cruises we had the choice of gratuities or OBC and we took the OBC because it's slightly more, but was wondering if we should change it. Thanks.

It's because you had the drinks package. If you were to buy the package, you would be charged the package price plus 18% gratuity on the package price. This covers tips on all drinks you buy with the package. When getting the package for free, Celebrity includes both the package and gratuities on the package. Not all lines do that (NCL makes customers pay the gratuity on a free drinks package).

Thanks for the quick answer. I did see on here that some lines charged gratuities on the free drink packages but had never been charged when we've had both so I wasn't sure. I guess I'll leave things as is and not drive my TA nuts changing perks.:)

Two entirely different things. The grats that you speak of go to the cabin steward and the dinning room server's, and have nothing to do with the drink package grat.

Thanks, that's what I thought, just checking.
