FredZiffle Posted October 28, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2016 I'm looking for info on a public bus from Santiago to Valparaiso. There are threads buried many pages down that mention it, but I can't find any specifics. There seem to be at least three major bus companies serving the area: Tur-bus, Pullman, and ViajaEnBus, but when I plug in the trip on their websites, I get zero results. Now, that may be due to my poor Spanish language skills, but the sites seem self-explanatory. Has anybody actually used the bus recently to make this trip, or has anybody found more info than I have? I just see no reason to pay for transport that includes a tour of wineries I don't want to visit, or, even worse, pay a fortune for private transport. Deeleedog Posted October 28, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2016 When I was there with my aged mom several years back we rented a car. It was an easy drive from the Airport in Santiago to Valpariso. When dropped our car off at the rental place they drove us to the ship. FredZiffle Posted October 29, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted October 29, 2016 April29, how have I never stumbled across this site as much as I've had to research train and bus schedules around the world? It is fabulous and provides exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks so much.
maryann ns Posted October 29, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2016 There's all kinds of busses every day between these two cities. There is no need to reserve in advance. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowTopic-g294305-i2020-k8893757-Santiago_to_Valparaiso_and_back-Santiago_Santiago_Metropolitan_Region.html
JJean Posted October 29, 2016 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2016 From what I have read about taking the bus from Santiago, you depart from the Pajanitos Bus Terminal Metro Center. There are two main bus companies, Turbus and Pulmar, both leave a few times an hour and you do not need advance reservations. You go to the window and get a reserved seat and I think it is less than $10. I have read they are very nice and all the luggage goes underneath. We are planning on using the bus Jan. 16th. Hope this helps.

I don't travel until March, so I'd love it if you'd report back on your experience.
JJean Posted October 30, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2016 I didn't hear about any weight limit in what I have read. I think there are many people who use the bus to get to the port, so I can't image there would be a limit.
