Hello everyone, I'm new to the Cunard Line, we are thinking of booking a cruise in September 2017 in the QV, its for 21 days from Rome to Athens. My question is , we can only book a GTY for the BD Balcony, is there any "Bad" cabins in that category and also is there a chance we would end up in a higher category cabin? we have never booked a GTY before, have always picked our cabin, so are a little nervous lol.

Any input would be great, Thank you

Hi there - we booked a GTY sheltered balcony BZ grade for our transatlantic crossing to NY on 19/11/16 and have received a BU grade (midships) which looks like the top grade for sheltered balconies. Quite pleased with this allocation as it is on deck 5 which is classed as low deck.

BD grades on QV look as though they are aft. The first time we sailed on QV we had an aft balcony cabin on deck 8 (8142) and there were no problems. I'm sure you will be fine but you probably will get a higher grade - we always have.

Thank you for your reply, We ended up booking the BD GTY,What do you mean by a sheltered Balcony? What category don't have a sheltered Balcony?

New to cunard so not sure which ones are sheltered and which ones aren't?

Sheltered balcony cabins are "in hull" and are not glass fronted. On QV and QE they are BF grade on deck 4, 4001 up to cabin 4042. BD cabins are aft on 5,6,7, so you will not get a sheltered cabin for sure.

Just back from the QV today.....we got 7001 as a balcony guarantee this time, have never been so high or so forward but it was absolutely fine. It's next to crew access so there was some chatting/door slamming but only occasionally.

Previous guarantees have always resulted in midships/aft cabins
