Sissaaaaaa Posted November 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2016 I have narrowed it down to Jost Van Dyke (White Bay) or Brewer's Bay on Tortola. We are in port from 8am - 6pm, so time isn't an issue. Is one beach that much better than the other?

blue_water Posted November 21, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 21, 2016 "Better" is subjective, they are certainly two different experiences. Brewers is a nice, calm beautiful beach with one beach bar and good snorkeling. Unless a large group from the ship goes there it is usually quiet and relaxing. White Bay is a nice white sand beach with a bit of a drop-off as you enter the water and several beach bars and a much busier vibe. More a party central spot with several boats stopping in throughout the day, at least in front of the Soggy $ Bar. Weekends are very busy. You can walk away from the busiest section, but that's the reason most folks are there. You can google the Soggy $ web cam. Brewers is an $8pp, 20 min taxi each way, while White Bay is about a $60 taxi/ferry/taxi and about 1 hour each way if you choose that transportation option. beerman2 Posted November 22, 2016 #4 Share Posted November 22, 2016 We loved JVD. We were only in port a short time so we took NCL excursion. Didn't want to risk taking ferry and not getting back to ship on time. Nice catamaran trip over seeing the islands! It's a 5 HR. Excursion with 45 min. trip each way and 3 hours beach time. blue_water Posted December 2, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 2, 2016 We've been on large cats in rough water and folks all around us were getting sick. It just depends on the sea conditions that day and your tolerance for that movement. Some areas like between SXM and St Kitts or Antigua and some snorkel spots are famously rough. We were in 7' waves between SXM and Tintamarre and some folks had a terrible time. From Road Town to Jost shouldn't be that bad but it just depends on the conditions at that time...
