Early Day of Cruise Arrival in Miami - Any Options

Our red eye flight from the West Coast will arrive in Miami a little after 6 a.m., for our Celebrity Cruise that departs that day - it is a Friday, in early May, so it is pretty much the end of the Caribbean cruise season, and being a Friday, hopefully there are not too many ships in port that day. Any suggestions on what to do or where to hang out until we can head towards the cruise terminal, presumably around 11 a.m. ?

There is a hotel inside of the MIA airport - cleverly called the Miami Airport Hotel  - you could grab a room for a few hours to nap/shower and then cab to POM.

Another option is a cheap room reserved for the night before - advise them that you will not check in until about 6:30 and ask for a late check out. La Quinta East is often suggested - pool, shower, nap and then a cab to POM.

You could taxi to one of the nicer hotels - think Hilton, Marriott, etc. - tip them to watch your bags while you enjoy breakfast and a mimosa or two.

Catch the airport flyer bus (about $3 each) to South Beach, pay to store your bags at the Luggage Lounge, and enjoy/explore SB until it is time to head to POM.

Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions. I particularly like the thought of a nice breakfast in South Beach, although I would like to avoid dragging the luggage around so I need to find an accommodating hotel to drop the bags off for the morning. From reading some of the other threads it sounds like things are pretty close together.

Here's a link for the luggage lounge: http://sobevee.wixsite.com/luggageloungemiami

And here is a link to the Airport flyer bus from MIA to South Beach: http://www.miamidade.gov/transit/bus-airport-flyer.asp

Blue Heron is a frequent poster here - check her blog for suggestions on SB hotels that might offer a spa pass/boozy brunch deal.

Depending upon where you wind up, a taxi from SB to POM will cost you about $20+ -- Uber will be cheaper.
