easyboy Posted December 6, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2016 Looking for pros and cons to weddings held either on board or at a port with Carnival. If done on board, make sure that the marriage will be valid when you get home and who will issue the certificate. There are wedding/renewal packages on board. sailinglisa Posted December 6, 2016 #3 Share Posted December 6, 2016 If you choose to get married at a port of call, be prepared to make alternative arrangements IF for some reason your ship cannot dock at the port where your wedding is. The rule of thumb is if that you must be at a destination at a specific time, it is best to do it as a land trip, not a cruise. If the ship is your destination then you have a much better chance of the ceremony happening. Like the PP said, make sure your marriage license is valid in your home state. This couple had everyone fly there to meet them for their wedding and we were diverted to Amber Cove. I can't imagine that happening, or why someone would plan it that way, but they did. So all their friends/family were in St. Thomas and they had no wedding there. Not sure what they ended up doing.
daisys dad Posted December 6, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 6, 2016 We had our wedding on the Pride in Baltimore. It was great we live about an hour away from the port, friends and family that did not want to cruise could come to the wedding and then get back off before the ship's departure. Some sailed with us. I know with Baltimore you have to go get your marriage license ahead of time. The wedding planners with carnival will let you know what you have to do. As for price we could not of had as nice of a ceremony for the same price off the ship. Just the other day a family member was still talking about it. ( the wedding was in 2006) Well what ever you decided I wish you the best

Rare kctwinmommy Posted December 7, 2016 #8 Share Posted December 7, 2016 (edited) The guests had the wedding reception by themselves. I guess, I wasn't there! :D And I meant I didn't know what the bride & groom did. Edited December 7, 2016 by kctwinmommy
