MSC Divina review. Dec-06-2016

Hello all. Our vacation is over and I am trying to put a review together. As many of you know I used to be a big MSC fan and never understood people who always complained . Sorry,this time I will be one of those people . LOl .For all of you who is going on MSC soon ,don’t worry, you will have a great time. We never had any problem on board . Crew is amazing ,food is good (not as good as it used to be but fine) , entertainment is very good. All my problems are with MSC Miami office. Rule number one : NEVER ,ever trust what they say or promise to you. Always have it in writing . No matter what you do, make them email it to you . Everything you pre- order make sure you have it on your e tickets. Now I have to run but I will try to put more in evening . You welcome to ask any question .

Got me thinking at the start you had a problem with your cruise. Glad you had a good one. Eager to know more about your problem with Miami office.

I will be a solo traveler on the Divina 1/19. This will be my first time on MSC. I cruise mostly on Princess. The MSC web site is lacking. Can you recommend a hotel in Miami that also provides transportation from the airport and to the pier later. Thanks

We stayed in InterContinental Miami twice this year and I really love this place. You don't nee transportation from Hotel just use UBER or taxi .

I will try to put some info in before chaos at work started.

 

Embarkation

 

It was the worst one we ever had, after a long wait they finally let people inside Terminal . Everything was OK until I saw people still coming out off the ship …at 12:30 ..it was clear for me that something is wrong and we will have a long wait . After half an hour Terminal become a human zoo with no seats and angry passengers, they even had to stop check in process in one point. Finally, around 1:30 they started embarkation and OMG what a ZOO it become. They asked for Black and Golden members to proceed first –great ,but they forgot about stupid status matching program , that almost everyone is Black or Gold member now . Anyway , around 1:45 we got on board. Later this day I found out that the whole delay was because previous cruise went to Colombia ,and by US law now everyone who is not Canadian or US citizen must go for finger prints after Colombia. I don’t know if it’s Corp. War or real new thing by US customs but it was terrible and not because of long wait ,but because how embarkation process was done.

 

After a fast lunch I wend as usual to Black Crab to check if we seat alone . Some very rude lady checked my card and said that we are not sitting alone and she cannot do anything about it. For my protest, that it’s not acceptable and I want to see Metre D’ I got the answer: “Madam, it’s only 3 more people sitting with you and Metre D it not here and we will see what we can do I future “ . Needless to say nothing was done (First time in my life) and I think they did not even try. I have to say for all my previous cruises with MSC I had no problem to change my table or to see Metre D. While I was in DR ,my DH went to Casino to pick up our Drinking and water coupons only to figure out that they don’t have them. What????? 3 weeks before cruise I booked drinking coupons ,water coupons and bottle of Italian Bruit Sparkling wine for sail away on my balcony. My Visa got charged and I had proof of it. “Sorry, madam, we will send email to Miami and by tomorrow we will get it fix” . Madam did not wait for this ,madam called MSC Miami herself .After a long wait (good my phone was free in USA) ,madam got someone on line and he told madam, that MSC have credit for madam but they don’t know why…… Long story short- took one hour on phone to fix problem .No ,I did not picked up my coupons right away ,but at least madam had email with proof of purchase. Later ,during the cruise I saw lots of people with same problem. Next day afternoon madam went to Reception to ask for coupons and madam got them . Nice lady on Reception ask me if I want my Sparkling be delivered today ,I said yes, sure. Guess what? We did not get it . LOL.

Next day I went to Reception again …. Finally around 3 pm they delivered … Martini Asti :rolleyes::rolleyes:!!!! Really? I booked different wine I hate Martini Asti ! It’s sweet and I cannot drink it:eek:. I was so sick and tired going to Reception I did not even went to change it. My husband took a glass and we throw away rest of it.

When I booked my cruise I asked my agent if we will get $50.00 each OBC. The answer was :“yes, you will” When I did price adjustment I asked again and I been told :”Yes. You will see it on board” . On first day of my cruise while I been fighting to get my Coupons I asked on Reception desk where is my credit and she told me I will see it next morning. Two days before end of the cruise I went to get my bill printed and of course no OBC been applied. This time I been told that we are not getting it on this cruise??!!! What? Really? They tried to blame it on TA but I booked from MSC direct …no problem just email them when you back home …. Really? Don’t get me wrong ,I would book this cruise with or without OBC but I hate when someone try to make fool of me. By this point I started seriously consider to cancel my next MSC cruise and go to Europe with someone else. One more admin Problem and I will go to cruise itself LOl. On last day in sea we got Daily Special – 7 course Dinner in Galaxy with wine paring . WOW we love it and I went to call right away to ask how much is it and to book it. Not so fast! I got again” sorry madam, we don’t have it any more ,where did you get it from?”:mad::mad: Madam got it from you f.. Daily Special . –No, madam it’s a mistake. …..:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Now for the good parts.

 

Ship

 

We spend 18 days on Divina 3 years ago and we had a good time but Divina is not our favorite ship for many reasons. We loved Poesia much more. I did not planned to go on Divina again ,but Colombia in destination made me change my mind. Divina is beautiful as always but one thing we mentioned – it’s not as spotless clean as it used to be. Don’t get me wrong its clean ,much cleaner then Carnival but not as it was before. I don’t know different Captain or different policy now, but it was visible.

 

Cabin

 

We had Fantastica balcony cabin 11091 on deck 11. Good location , amazing room steward . Room was clean in no time and any request was done in no time. Absolutely no problem here. Everything you need just ask –bath robe , ice, extra towels ect .

Towels… For some reason MSC got stupid idea about towels. Now you have to bring towel from your cabin to the pool . I hate this, even Carnival does not do it anymore. Bringing it half problem-changing it that’s a problem. Believe it or not there was no changing table in the pool during the cruise. They put one only on last day! Unless I am so stupid and did not see one …. We took extra 3 towels from cabin steward on first day .

Food

 

DR: We had absolutely amazing waiter . I would say one of the best one we ever had. The same level of service we had on Celebrity and waiter was from Costa. Guess what? Our MSc waiter was from Costa as well . Take a hint MSC. Dinner never took more than 1.5 hour everything was done proper . For the food itself…I don’t know, for my taste it’s become to American I loved previous menu better. We found beef dishes better than it used to be but not rest of menu. But it’s only my opinion .

 

Buffet

 

Usual breakfast –eggs, pancakes ,waffles, ect. Best pasties ever ,I mean I wish they would not be that good, so I would not gain 8 lb

Lunch- Surprisingly good Burgers ,lots of different stations with different food .Very good desserts ,don’t miss mini panna cotas. I don’t know why they start doing Taco station and Asian station ( never saw people there) .I guess they try to do what Carnival do… Do yourself a favor go to the back of Buffet ,same food and lots of space. I don’t understand why people want to stay in front in crowd .

Snack- After 10 pm they put snack station on with fantastic warm cookies . I hate you MSC.:mad: I wish I would never new about those cookies. :p

 

Bars

 

Best service was in Cantina de Baccio . We love this bar from our previous cruises and it’s stay same best place on ship. On first day at sea we ordered 1 miter of Pizza ..boy it was best pizza ever and we almost finished it between 3 people :o. I probably will never eat Pizza in Canada anymore .LOL Had no problem in other bars ,yes ,sometimes you have to wait 5 minutes for service but you on ship and nowhere to run so no problem for us .

 

Entertainment

 

MSC can call themselves best cruise line in this area . Great singers and dancers , great shows . I even enjoyed LA Traviata . I am not a big Opera fan but I could not miss the opportunity to listen to a beautiful music(and for free)LOL . Lots of good music in all bars something for everyone. Way better than on Carnival or Celebrity. Thank God no comedians.:eek: On question bothers me for many years – where all those people run after the show? Is there a secret I am not aware off? :confused:

Andre is a CD and I think he is a very good one ,as well as all other entertainment team members. One thing we did not like ,that they started to do Carnival games like- Sexy legs contests .Please don’t turn into Carnival ,they have enough ships. Stay MSC .

Thanks so much for taking the time to write your review. I am disappointed to keep hearing about such problems with the drink coupons. We sail at the end of January, I hope MSC is reading about these huge problems and implementing a solution pronto!

 

I am sorry your cruise wasn't everything it could be, but I hoped you still enjoyed your vacation. Vacation time is precious and every moments count!

About drinking coupons just don't order it over internet ,call them and you will be fine. Make sure you have proof emailed to you. We differently had a good time and no regrets about cruising with MSC. I just hope MSC will fix those problems in future.
