Galveston

I am debating on which cruise transfer and what time shuttle to book. We are sailing with carnival in January and have a check in time of 11:30. If we use Galveston limo we will get to port at either 10:30 or 12:30. I usually like to go as early as possible but this will be my first time with staggered check in and we will also have a one year old with us.

Is there anything near the port we could walk to after dropping off luggage, even a park would work just to kill some time?

There's a train museum within walking distance, it is pretty cool for the littles.

Any of this within walking of the port? We will be taking a bus transport so will not have car seats for the kids so no taxi
