sassyredhat Posted January 4, 2017 #52 Share Posted January 4, 2017 We are booked for the 2nd time on Splendor for an October Hawaii cruise. DS wanted CCL for the kids programs, which are great on the Carnival line. I actually like the décor and thought the 'pink eggs' were pretty. The only thing I didn't care for was having to walk by the casino. On our cruise, they had a photo prop set up right next to it. CCL also has fairly large staterooms compared to some other lines, comfortable beds, and I really have never had any bad food. Things will be fine. Just go with the flow. :) Patti
drdelta Posted January 12, 2017 #53 Share Posted January 12, 2017 I have an April 23 sailing on Carnival Splendor and can not locate where to register for a check-in time. I have done this before on previous cruises (even on the Splendor) with no problem. I called Carnival, and they said that picking a check-in time is not available until app. three months before the sailing. Has any one else had this problem. I do not buy it because I have already chosen a time for a cruise in December.

hapytobehr Posted January 12, 2017 #55 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Please tell me that I didn't make a mistake in booking on this ship? I just finished reading at least 7 pages on this site of nothing but negative reviews. The timing and itinerary are what I was looking for most which is why I choose the Splendor but it seems that everyone that has gone, has nothing but badThings to say about every aspect of the cruise. Did anyone enjoy it? Just got off the Splendor for the NYE cruise. As you can see, we have already booked it again in April. I thought the ship looked great after dry dock. We were on it before and it definitely was in need of some work. The crew for the most part was great (especially in the casino). Our cabin steward was an issue at first but my husband saw the head of housekeeping and that turned around quickly. The MDR (we had late dining) staff was okay. I will say the first day it was pure chaos getting into the dining room and for a few days after. It seemed that they could not get done quick enough from the early seating as the doors didn't open until 8:30 on some days. By the 3rd day it was better. The menu was AT and it was okay. We always found something we liked. They did have lobster on the second formal night which was NYE. We also went to the steakhouse and it was wonderful. As some of the other posters said...go with an open mind and don't pay too much attention to bad reviews. Have a great cruise!

john91498 Posted January 12, 2017 #57 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Ship is in great shape for her age. It did not get the newer bars and restaurants during last dry dock, but plenty of places to eat and drink. Crew was awesome, very friendly. We will be back on Splendor in June with a bunch of family. Fun "old school" ship. I thought she was one of the newer ships?
watermelonqueen99 Posted January 12, 2017 #58 Share Posted January 12, 2017 We absolutely loved the Splendor. The staff was amazing and the entertainment was really good. The only downfall was no 2.0 upgrades. A cruise is what you make it. :)
joellebridgers Posted January 13, 2017 #59 Share Posted January 13, 2017 This will be our 2nd time on the Splendor Oct 29th. We loved her. It took some getting use to, ( the floor plans are way diff from the others in the fleet). We were in Deck 8 and had great service there as well as Nancy in the YTD. I love the adult pool! I do have a review with pics from our last cruise Nov 8th 2015. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
