Celebrity or Disney for ship experience/customer service for adults

Never been on either one before, so who has better onboard experience were in our 30s

Better stateroom in sqfeet, comfort

Food in the MDR and food at the buffet, variety of options

Drink options and Packages

Onboard entertainment and variety of stuff to do during the day/night

Ships in design and layout

Price I think Celebrity would win.

Private island Castaway Cay or Celebrity's private island.

In case you're wondering what I'm asking your opinion on either or if you've been what you think is better for adults X or Disney and based on all of that what you think is better for the money.

We've been on both lines as "adults only."

Celebrity--better buffet options, overall better food. LOVED the healthy options in the "AquaSpa" area. Adult only areas were strictly adult only (no kids walking thru or doing anything else.) Room was VERY small compared to DCL. I've had on line debates with people who insisted that a room as small as we had didn't exist, but I took the figures from Celebrity's web site (we were on the Infinity in Alaska).

The "around the ship" entertainment was good. The main stage entertainment was awful. The variety acts were comparable on both lines. There was a lot more drinking on Celebrity with more drunk and rowdy passengers at night.

Room steward was excellent. Dining servers were "just OK." Daughter had unlimited soda package, but had difficulty getting refills at dinner. They would bring a can of soda and pour it into a glass. Would take away the half full can, even though she asked to keep it (not allowed to leave can on table). Then wouldn't refill in a timely fashion.

Disney--better staterooms (MUCH better). Dining servers in general are more friendly, but food quality was worse. Unlimited soda package is nice. Entertainment better. Castaway Cay is great. Since we did Alaska, didn't visit Celebrity's island. Appearance of the ship--Disney has the best looking ships we've ever seen or sailed.

Price--definitely Celebrity wins.

I would do either line again based on where it was going and what we wanted...but I wouldn't book "low end" on Celebrity again. That cabin was way too small! However, Celebrity beds do separate while DCL do not.

i think a big difference is whether you're a disney person or not..

i often wonder why non-disney people cruise on DCL and then complain that it wasn't worth the price..

we enjoy other cruise lines in addition to DCL, but for us, there is an intangible something that we can only get on a DCL ship...our disney 'fix' (seriously, it is a fix)...

also, disney ships do not have a casino.....something to keep in mind if that's important to you..

i forgot to say that we're all adults....including our kids....adults and unabashed disneyholics...

I have been on DCL once and X twice and RCC 3 times. Personally I wouldn't do DCL without kids. I think the rooms are nicest I have ever been on and I thought the buffet had better quality seafood (day one had crab legs) but it is so centered on disney shows and disney characters which is great for our son but I miss the casino and more adult atmosphere if I did adult only. I wanted to chime in that since I have done all three lines (NCL too but didn't like) I would do RCC adult only. Lots of activities, mix of family and adults and nice big ships. All depends on what works best for you. Rooms are a good size but not as nice as Disney. My parents always sail X and they did RCC with us and missed it on their last X trip. They wouldn't do DCL even with us-just not there thing but we do have a 7 night sailing coming up and I am really looking forward to it!

I do like both but would probably go with X mainly due to itinerary and more "sophisticated" feel.

I only choose balconies and the DCL family deluxe staterooms are very good but we had a nice Concierge balcony stateroom on X for less.

If you are Disney nuts then that would be a different story, I do enjoy our cruises on DCL, I just get a bit bored and didn't like a few of their policy changes, plus the food in the MDR on DCL is not great, but the adult only restaurants are good. I wish they enforced the adult only areas better though.

I totally agree with the above. One thing to be aware of--at least on some Celebrity ships, there is a restaurant (Blu) which is only for concierge level guests. I've seen it posted that since they opened this restaurant, much of their effort is being directed here with some neglect of the MDRs.

Blu is for Aqua Class level only although suite guests can eat there if there is availability. (We're in AQ for the first time on our July cruise on the Equinox.) But, for the cost, there is little comparison between DCL and X (or even RCI). We love Disney, but DCL charges too much for the "pixie dust factor." So, we only sail DCL when we can get the Florida resident discounts and stick to RCI or Celebrity otherwise.

If you're a Disney Fan I encourage you to find a cost effective (atleast as best you can) Disney cruise to try.

I really don't think you would have a bad time either way, although we have never sailed X.

We enjoyed the smaller classic ship and haven't been on the newer DCL ones. The cabins are a great size which is nice, but other than sleeping are you really in the cabin that much? It really makes the biggest impact for those with kids and sleeping arrangements.

I thought the drink prices were great. They ha e a drink of the day that was only $4.25. Most other drinks were a good price ($6-$8).

We found lots of stuff to do and ended up having 4 sea days due to a cancelled port of call.

I agree with this, for the most part. The stage shows on X were yawners for me, but many would think DCLs are too corny (not me!). Found myself bored some evenings on X, but not on DCL. Spent more time just sitting in bars drinking on X, probably because we had drink package. I like MDR food better on DCL vs X (at least on my last X cruise) , but liked buffet better on X. Service is good on X, fantastic on DCL.

I would do X if I were you, on a newer ship, and save DCL for when you have kids.

If you are looking to be spoiled rotten as an adult, I would recommend getting a full suite on Celebrity. You have your own butler, concierge and private restaurants plus your choice of speciality restaurants to choose from. Depending on how big of a suite, you also have the premium beverage package included. Everything you desire as an adult is there for you. That being said, if you are looking to have everything you desire to have the child in you spoiled rotten you can't find a better cruise than Disney. The shows on Disney are the best we've seen and the dinning experience is very entertaining ! Either line is enjoyable and you can't go wrong with either !

Those are great points and valid considerations!
