DutchCruiseFan Posted January 2, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Are Costa's ships in China only available to Asians?
G.M.T. Posted January 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2017 The Far East cruises are usually only available on Costa Asia web site, Costa discourages Europeans from booking them. Occasionally some far east cruises open up, mainly on Victoria. There currently Serena, Victoria, Fortuna & Atlantica, they will be joined in the Spring by the neoRomantica and another ship at a later date. alicat58 Posted January 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Hi GMT Why is Costa discouraging the "rest of the world" to go on those Asian cruises? We are running out of Med ports we have not visited and are not keen on Caribbean cruises mainly because we don't want to do beach type cruises. I want to do a Far East cruise next year for a big birthday and will have to look elsewhere. Alicat58
G.M.T. Posted January 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 2, 2017 I have met several people who have been on such a Far East cruise. Each said it was an experience (a terrible one at that). The ships have been totally altered for the Chinese market, food, extertainment (very large casinos), activities. Costa knows that they cannot mix these two totally different cruising worlds, the works of Rudyard Kipling "East is east and west is west, and never the twain shall meet". Costa has no need to open up the market for Europeans, the Chinese market is 3 times greater (in population). I know what you mean, I also have a longing for a Far East cruise, only got as far as Singapore. Aida go there but there are not my cup of tea. On our resent neoRomantica cruise I was following the Atlantica on the large TVs, on it's cruise through the South Seas, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Fidji - all romantic places. Maybe Costa will listen to our requests.
alicat58 Posted January 2, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 2, 2017 Oh dear! I won't mind the food but not keen on the casino anyway. I think it will likely be Princess of Celebrity. Working on hubby still. He is very attached to Costa. Did you enjoy your recent cruise? We are off in 46d 7hrs and 7minutes. Sorry DutchCruiseFan, not meaning to high jack your post.
