avidtraveler92583 Posted January 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2017 We will be sailing July 4, 2017 out of Copenhagen. Would like to arrive the day before. Trying to decide on best location since we will be boarding mid day and will have the morning to sightsee. Looking for moderate price, prefer A/C since it is July. TripAdvisor has many suggestions but insure where Holland America sails from. Any suggestions would be appreciated.:)
easyboy Posted January 3, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2017 We stayed at Crowne Plaza pre-cruise. They had a free shuttle from airport to hotel. Had a nearby mall for places to eat other than the hotel's. Nearby train station to city proper and other places of interest. Hotel rooms are spacious with higher than usual ceiling. Hotel lobby is nice and staff are accomodating. Buffet breakfast is great. Sent from my iPad using Forums
8 Westies Mom Posted January 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2017 We also stayed at the Crown Plaza in Copenhagen. Very nice hotel, near train/tram service takes you into the city. Also 5 minute walk to very nice shopping mall. Sent from my iPad using Forums
lynncarol Posted January 4, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2017 We stayed at the WakeUp Borgergade Hotel. Quite reasonable for Copenhagen. Tiny rooms but very well laid out and spotlessly clean. It's located a short walk from a stop for the metro which leaves right out of the airport. Also, another short walk from the hotel takes you to the famous Nyhavn district...touristy, but a lovely area. We had a fabulous fish dinner at the Christianshavns Faergecafe...a bit off the beaten track, and were the only guests there not speaking Danish. Head in the opposite direction, and you can visit a famous castle. Supposedly it is also fairly convenient to take public transportation from the hotel to the pier but we used a taxi as it was rainy and cold that morning. GradUT Posted January 5, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2017 We also stayed at the Wakeup Hotel Borgegade. The location is great--walking distance to Nyhavn, the Stroget, Rosenberg Castle and even Tivoli. The rooms are compact, but clean, quiet and comfortable. They also offer a great breakfast buffet for an extra fee--more than worth the cost. We easily got from the airport to the hotel using public transportation (train). We also used public transportation (buses) to get from the hotel to the port (Oceankaj)where our HAL ship docked
WeRockChalkKU Posted January 8, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 8, 2017 Thanks OP for asking and thanks to those that responded to question. I was just starting my search for a pre-cruise hotel. Love these boards!

Can we fit on public transportation? We will be staying at Wakeup Bogergade in mid-October.
GradUT Posted January 9, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 9, 2017 We only had one carry-on each. While you could probably manage a larger suitcase on the train from the airport to the Kongens Nyhavn station (near the Wakeup Borgergade), it would be a problem taking anything larger than a 22" carry-on suitcase on the buses that go to Oceankaj. If you were lucky and caught a bus that wasn't very full, you could stand in the pram area with your larger suitcase. But this is a big IF. (We found the buses pretty full getting to Oceankaj.)
