Free beach near the Atlantis.....

Just a question about the free beach.... Is there a bar at the free beach? and is it in walking distant to the Hotel? We are thinking of doing the Aquarium and having the men go to the beach. Also is there food sold at the beach as well? thanks for any info

My info is old. ;) Cabbage Beach is the public which is just past the RIU Hotel about a 12 min walk from Atlantis. They have vendors on the beach selling basic alcoholic drinks and some food.

I went to Cabbage beach 2 years ago during a cruise to the Bahamas. There wasn't a bar, but there were locals selling pre-made drinks. One of them offered to watch my belongings (for a price) if I wanted to go into the water. I packed up and left...just didn't feel safe.
