Our B2B (back to back) cruise on the Carnival Triumph

I found very little information on this when I was looking so I thought I would post about our experience as B2B cruisers on the Carnival Triumph. Because we waited so long between booking the first and the 2nd half we ended up having to change rooms. The night before we were due to disembark from the first cruise, around about 10:00 p.m., we received a notice telling us to meet at guest services at 10:00 a.m. It also said that if we were going to be changing rooms to inform our steward so he could make arrangements for our luggage to be moved. We packed up everything and had it ready to go and just left it in our room.

When we went down at 10:00 they were still trying to get everyone off the ship so we were told to come back at 10:30. Since we had already vacated our room and had breakfast we were allowed to just wait next across from guest services. We were given our new sign and sail cards (they took our old ones which I was sad about). As soon as everyone was off we were personally escorted off the ship through customs and right back on. Once back on there was complimentary mimosa's waiting for us and we had a photo taken with the guest services crew. We were also told that for this leg we did not have to wait in line that we were now VIP's. The only time I needed guest services during this leg there was no line anyway. It's an awful photo of me but here it is.

After we drank our Mimosa's and had our photo taken we moved around the ship. Since we were the only B2B guest we had the whole ship to ourselves for 2 hours. We spent most of that time in the hot tub drinking complimentary champagne. They kept coming by and giving us new glasses every time they noticed we were empty. We did take a couple of photos of the empty ship.

A few hours after we were on board we got a knock on the door and was surprised with a free bottle of champagne and a fruit basket.

We kind of expected that as we had read were others had received the champagne but we were not expecting what happened at dinner that night. My husband was handed the wine menu and told he could choose anything $40 or under on the house. That was a surprise and this was the only time during the whole cruise were either hubby or I got tipsy, as we drank the whole bottle.

This was our first cruise and we were also celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and overall we loved every minute of it. The only thing that bothered us (besides not thinking about booking soon enough to secure our aft balcony for the second half) was a balcony smoker on the 2nd half. Carnival took care of that and after a couple of warnings they finally told the offender that they would be fined if it happened again. That solved the problem and the rest of our cruise was smoke free.

I'm afraid I don't have a big long review with lots of pictures like some of the others do. There are a few recent reviews of the Triumph that have been posted in the Triumph part of the forum that had lots of awesome photos. We were in such awe that we forgot about taking photos of the ship. Overall, I thought the ship looked fine. Yes, she's dated but she was clean and I didn't notice a lot of dings or wear. The service was good and the food in the MDR was good to excellent depending on what you got. I found the buffet food to be just ok. The lines in at the buffet were always long. We had anytime dining and other than on formal night (which was also Christmas Day) we never had to wait for more than 10 minutes to get seated.
