UK Uber app ok in US?

Hi. I am in the UK and have the Uber app on my iPhone. I will be travelling to Miami later in the year for a cruise and was wondering if my UK app will work in the US or do I need to download a US version? I will have full data allowance in the US so that won't be an issue.

Any advice from other UK cruisers who have done this would be great.

The Ozzy Uber App worked fine in Hawaii :-)

As long as you have data service the app should work anywhere where there is uber.

Can you turn off location and mobile wifi after you get into the car? It would seem that the driver's mobile device takes over from there but does anyone know for sure?

When I am overseas I walk around with the iphone in flight mode all the time.

For booking the Uber I would then do it somewhere there is wifi eg, Hotel or bar.
