Smoking and the Breeze Casino

We were on the Breeze last week (1/22 - 1/29). I thought there was much less smoke in the casino than I have encountered on other cruises. Usually, when I am in the casino for any length of time I feel like I need a shower to wash the smoke out of my hair and want to put my clothes in the laundry. I did not experience this at all during the cruise and I played the slots every night and one sea day afternoon. There were probably fewer smokers on the ship than is usual.

FYI: I usually never ever win, but the slots were very generous on this cruise. It kind of felt like I was going to the ATM as every session I came out a winner.

Okay, I am a former smoker but normally I am able to be around other people who smoke. I just left the Breeze and I can honestly say the smoke in the casino was thick. The walk way through should be far away from the smokers. One side of the slots near the walkway was for smokers and the other wasn't. The bar usually has a smoking side and a non smoking side. I don't know if they had a large amount of smokers but they seemed to take up the whole bar area. I also had a lady bring her ashtray over to the slots that had a non smoking sign and no one came to tell her she couldn't smoke there. I really think the Casino should have smoking slots far away from the walkway but the bar is so close to the walkway it would be impossible to avoid the smoke without having to go to deck 4 and then down.

Not sure of a solution but just wanted to see if anyone else found it extremely smokey too.

If smoking bothers you at all, you'll need to find another cruise line. Carnival's ships are the worst for indoors smoking. Celebrity's casinos are completely non-smoking.

You know that smokers drink more? It's an economics thing ?

I smoke, do not gamble or drink.

I was one of those smoking in the casino and believe me I wish there was somewhere else I could go when the wind is so bad they close the doors to get out on the deck. Unlike the Magic where everyone has to congregate at half the casino bar I was thrilled that Breeze had a few tables where I could sit. Triumph had a cigar bar. Cigars aren't even allowed in the casino on Breeze. Smoking is an ongoing cruise battle, which we smokers are losing. There is no "smoking" ship, but you could take a non smoking cruise. I follow the rules and smoke where allowed. Not even on my balcony.

The real problem, if you are a smoker, is that Carnival, like other cruise lines, have extremely limited the smoking areas on the vessels. In many cases the casino bar may be the only indoor location available for a smoker. I got off the Dream in early December, the weather was a little chilly for the first two and last day of the cruise. The casino bar was the only location a smoker could go and not risk the flu or a cold. This naturally results in a concentration of smokers. If Carnival could open up a section of balconies, say aft balconies on specific decks or some other aft sections, some of that concentration of smokers might go away. BTW, I don't smoke so I don't write from a self-serving state of mind.

I understand and like your idea maybe even some balconies on the smoking side of the upper decks.

I guess I should have been on your cruise and especially because of the slots!

I am trying Celebrity next year but not because of smoking. A friend wanted to try them so I am going too.

As I stated I am a former smoker and totally understand. I was just unhappy that there was no where to go that wasn't smoky in the casino and no one telling people not to smoke at non-smoking machines. I think the walkway through the casino should be smoke free and one end of the bar is so close to this but people where smoking.
