Sailing on Jewel Feb 5th and have a question about Cabo

Hi all,

Please forgive me if this has been asked before, I did a search but wasn't able to find an answer. How long does it take to get from the ship to land on the tender? Because I procrastinated and didn't book our excursion in advance I had to book our whale watching with an outside tour company. The lady who placed our reservation wasn't very reassuring that we'd get there on time. She said it takes just over an hour to get to there? But she wanted our credit card number anyway. We dock at 10:00 and the tour is at 12:00. I would just hate to miss the tour and still be charged for it. Thanks

On our cruise the Jewel arrived at "7am" in Cabo on 12/21/16. We booked a private whale watch at 8:30. Early tendering tickets were offered at the Saphire pool that morning. The ship docks very close to the tendering pier so it only was a 10 minute ride. I don't see a problem with a two hour difference, but you may want to line up to get one of the earlier tenders if you can't get in with someone who has priority or latitudes tendering. We had a short port day so there were people lining up early for the first non-priority tender tickets.

You shouldn't have issues. The tender is AT MOST a ten minute ride. We were on this cruise, on a FULL ship in December, and had no issues with the tender. Your time frame should be quite doable.

 

Bring lots of small dollar bills with you. All these private excursions are on docks that you can't just walk up to without paying a "gatekeeper" one or two bucks per person. It's a bit strange, but you'll see what I mean when you get there. So have some $ at hand.

 

Once small caveat. When we got off our tender, we figured out where our private excursion was. It was, for the able bodied, about at 15 minute walk to the proper dock. HOWEVER, we had one person with mobility issues, so tried to get a water taxi over to the boat. That became a bureaucratic nightmare...so if anyone falls into that category, be prepared with extra money and extra patience.

That's just not true. We got off the Jewel this morning, and were in Cabo on Friday (Feb. 3), where we had a fabulous whale watching tour with Whale Watch Cabo. As instructed, we met them at their office just off the marina (walking over from the tender dock). Did not have to pay any "gatekeepers."
