euro cruiser Posted February 14, 2017 #26 Share Posted February 14, 2017 If it turns out not to be a beach day, you can put together an easy walk, about two miles round trip, covering the waterfront south of the cruise port (pass by the Midway and Seward Johnson's "Unconditional Surrender" statue (alternately called The Kiss or the Kissing statue) and on to Seaport Village, and then on to the children's museum. If you want to add on the Gaslamp Quarter and Petco Park that would only add another mile to your walk. https://thinkplaycreate.org/
Rare Keith1010 Posted February 14, 2017 Author #27 Share Posted February 14, 2017 Thank you euro cruiser. This looks like a good backup plan. Keith
KeepCalmBearOn Posted February 15, 2017 #28 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Petco Park is in the Gaslamp Quarter, which is the opposite direction from the cruise port from Old Town (which is north of the airport). It's a beautiful baseball park, even better if you happen to be there on a game day as tickets are relatively inexpensive (at least compared to the Yankees). Map: http://sandiegan.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/DowntownMap46.jpg Actually Petco is in East Village. The Gaslamp Quarter is on 4th, 5th and 6th streets. http://www.gaslamp.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Gaslamp-Quarter-Map-WEB.pdf There is a great public park inside Petco Park that is open every day there isn't a baseball game. Hard2Choose Posted February 15, 2017 #29 Share Posted February 15, 2017 Well, wherever Petco Park is, we rode a free bus to the general area, then walked. Nice tour. Obviously I'm not from San Diego.....
