Britannia Retreat

The cost for the Retreat is £20 a day each, but that was for a Port day, not a sea day. It will be slightly more for that. It may have gone up - this price was middle of last year.

It is not always easy to get single days. They quite often only allow this after the cruise has been going for a while. They prefer to sell the whole cruise, or most of it, at the beginning.

However, it is certainly worth the extra money.

You will get:

Breakfast - fruit juices, danish pastries, fruit platters, etc., but obviously not hot food.

Lunch - a selection of cold platters for mains and desserts.

Afternoon Tea - a selection of filled sandwiches/rolls and cakes

Lemon water and ordinary iced water on tap constantly.

The Attendants (there should be 2) will get you whatever drink you order - alcoholic or not.

There are plush bathrobes and plush towels available at all times. If they run out ask the Attendants for some.

The loungers are wonderful to lay on - very plumb and comfortable. Some are the shade; others in the sun (but bear in mind, of course, it will move!).

Lastly, there are two jacuzzis to enjoy.

It is right next to the quiet area called The Serenity Pool which is for adults only and has no music playing (a joy!). This means if you wish to swim you just have to go out of the doors to do so (remembering to take your key card with you of course!).

They do have a rule of no mobiles to be used as well. It is supposed to be a quiet area after all.

As I've said, my husband and I loved it and would always pay extra to enjoy it.
