DIY Andalsnes

Visiting Andalsnes soon for the day on our cruise - any tips or information please for DIY?

Little more than a one street town. Its used as a starting point for trips to Troll Wall and Road which are both spectacular.

We hired a car, picked up in the town. Drove first to the Troll Wall, then doubled back and went up the Troll Road and over a mountain pass all the way to Valldal. Here we had lunch and pottered around the fjord a bit then headed back the same way. It was a very easy route and easily manageable in a day. We'd planned it on a map before leaving home, but the hire company gave us a basic map and pointed out how to get out of town onto the right road. Needless to say it was spectacular scenery all the way.

It's worth looking at the tourist information website for Åndalsnes.

 

We've visited in all weathers- from a blizzard of snow through to warm sunshine. The town's people are friendly and there are a variety of shops. A nice port to visit and walk in/around.

Thank you all :) We have chosen not to take one of the excursions - the train is already sold out anyway - and want to have a bit of exercise and enjoy a potter around the town I think. Thanks for the link as well - quite fancy the walk up to the Nebba viewpoint and also the river walk. :)
