checheguevara281070 Posted February 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2017 Hello We are booked on the above cruises in the next few weeks, and the excitement is beginning to build (who am I trying to kid? I've been like this for weeks :D). I have been trying to follow the various threads along the way, but was after confirmation of a few things, if anyone can help? *Pretty please* 1. I read on one of the threads that you don't see your luggage (if you are flying Thomson) from the moment you check in at Gatwick, until it arrives at your cabin, is that right? 2. That all visas are sorted out by the ship, but for one of the ports (Abu Dhabi?) this involves an early morning  meet and greet with customs? 3. Male and female dress for walking around generally, and for Mosques in particular. We don't do the vest and t-shirt thing, but were wondering, where for instance long trousers and covered arms were advised. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide :). Rare dronnygirl Posted February 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2017 Can only answer re the dress - short sleeved shirts and trousers or 'cut-offs' are okay for the men. Ladies are best to wear either cotton trousers or longer skirt and tops with sleeves. If you are visiting a mosque the dress code is quite strict - ladies have to cover their legs and arms and also need to cover their heads. Hope you enjoy your cruise, it's a fabulous area to visit. Vitalsign Posted February 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2017 Sorry but apart from Caribbean and Dubrovnik you have to collect your luggage and put it on the bus it will then be taken to your cabin when you arrive at the port Returning home your case has to be outside your cabin door the night before you leave for midnight and you collect it on the quay and put it on the bus You collect it from the bus to take through security at the airport in Dubai Many of the mosques have long back robes to cover your clothes free of charge but taken your own pashmina for head covering as theirs are not very nice You are expected to cover your shoulders and knees (women) in the towns No vests or shorts for men. All Visas are arranged by Thomson however in Abu Dhabi as you enter the port you have to go through immigration and you will be given your passport back from reception on the ship to take with you You are then given a slip to say you have been immigrated and this must be kept with you whilst ashore. You have to do this even if you are not leaving the port but it doesn't take long Thomson Spirit Oct 2005 Repo Palma to Sharm el Sheikh Thomson Celebration Jan 2007 Red Sea Magic Ocean Village Feb 2008 Western Caribbean & Central America Ocean Village Aug 2008 Eastern Med Ocean Village 2 Feb 2009 Eastern Caribbean Ocean Village Mar 2010 Eastern Caribbean Thomson Dream Feb 2011 Eastern Caribbean & Cuba Thomson Celebration Aug 2011 Eastern Med Thomson Celebration Apr 2012 Red Sea Magic Thomson Celebration Apr/May 2012 Repo Sharm el Sheikh to Marmaris Thomson Dream Feb 2013 Eastern Caribbean Thomson Majesty Nov/Dec 2014 Colourful Coasts Canaries Thomson Dream Jan/Feb 2015 Western Caribbean Panama & Cuba Thomson Dream Apr 2015 Transatlantic Sunset Thomson Majesty June 2015 Hellenic Classics Thomson Celebration Sept 2015 Adriatic Affair Thomson Dream Jan 2016 Mayan Treasures/Cuban Revolution Thomson Dream April 2016 Atlantic Adventure Thomson Dream June 2016 Iconic Islands/Adriatic Explorer Thomson Celebration Jan 2017 Cities of Gold Thomson Dream April2017 Atlantic Daydream Thomson Majesty Sept2017 Med Medley/Treasures of Med
