JustinCMH Posted February 16, 2017 #26 Share Posted February 16, 2017 I sympathize with your son! I went to a Catholic high school, where our dress code permitted shorts only during the fall and spring, and our headmaster would announce a week or so ahead of time when we had to switch to pants or were allowed to wear shorts in the spring. Sometimes, I would still wear shorts even if it were snowing, purely because I knew I could! Here's something to think about from a fellow shorts lover though: the photos. We have several nice family photos from the cruises I went on in high school. He might want a photo or two from the formal nights in slacks as a memory of your vacation together, and that might be a good enough reason to bring a pair of slacks or dress pants. Again, just another thing to think about and decide if it is important to you. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
LakeWobegon Posted February 18, 2017 #27 Share Posted February 18, 2017 I like the colonel's way if thinking too if it's the "rules." But I look at the current state of the business world as well. Some people wear khakis and polos and others suits and ties at my office. Clothes don't make the person but they do leave an impression. I'd always rather dress up than down. Still, Steve Wynn is the one who said there are a lot of millionaires walking around Vegas in shorts and t-shirts to justify relaxing the dress codes at his casinos. sandpiper35 Posted February 25, 2017 #29 Share Posted February 25, 2017 Last two Divina cruises I remember seeing lots of jeans and sport shirts, but no shorts. Cheers.
Fred&Lily Posted February 25, 2017 #30 Share Posted February 25, 2017 I too completely agree with The Colonel, rules are rules! But it's manners that make the man, not dress code. First of all, the military # 1 dress uniform and the tuxedo are now totally unnecessary. Just pack one light summer weight jacket.... and that's really only for the DW to put a few things in your pockets or to borrow in the evening if the A/C is too cold. What does make me cringe a bit is "wife beater' tee-shirts, tattoos, flip flops and backward tractor caps, but I'd never say a word.... okay, I might slightly raise an eye-brow! Jeans or shorts in the MDR are a very minor infraction of the MSC posted rules.
