Car rental question for Port Canaveral

Was looking to rent a car when we port in Port Canaveral but their hours of operation is only till 6pm; we are in port from 12 pm to 9 pm.

 

My friend says we can drop the car off after hours, using the key drop but how safe is this without them looking over the car to say nothing was damaged??? ( I guess I could buy their insurance)

 

Any ways -- anyone rent a car for such a short trip? I could make it back before 6pm but would prefer more of a 7pm...

Take pictures and /or video all around the car, showing the rental lot in the background. Ensure you have the photos date stamped. Don't forget to take a picture of the windshield.

Have done after hour and early morning drop offs on business trips before with no issues. As mentioned, just take pictures around the car date stamped as well as the fuel gauge. Most major companies are going to be good about this but better to be safe than sorry.

 

That said, I've been fortunate and never had any extra charges when doing this.
