Good morning,

Has anyone ever used a P&O shuttle bus from Gdynia to Gdansk and if so what was the cost ?

The P&O shuttle bus info page indicates there is one but the alternative seems to be a 'do it yourself' tour at £26 each or 'google' suggests the local train.

Any info or suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

There is no P&O shuttle bus from Gdynia to Gdansk.

The P&O shuttle bus info page indicates there is a shuttle from the port but this is to Gdynia not Gdansk. When we were there in October 2013 the drop-off point was the Gemini Center which is a shopping center on the waterfront about 2 km away (about a 15 minute ride). The central railway station is about a further 1.3 km from the Gemini Center.

We were docked at Polska 1 which is about 2.5km from the station.

As you correctly say, the tours department offers an "on your own" tour to Gdansk for a premium price.

We did the Best of Gdansk and Malbork Castle 8 hour excursion which included a nice meal. It was excellent and good value at £58 (less loyalty discount).

We did the Cathedral, the city then time on your own with Princess. It was a really good tour and the guide was excellent. We had plenty of time on our own to see more of the sights. We were there in August and St Dominic's .Fair was on so loads of stalls to peruse. Amber jewellery is a good buy.

While cruising with Princess last year the Poles put on their own "local" shuttle from the port to Gdynia for 1e each way (much to the annoyance of Princess) We took a taxi back from the town to the port and gave the driver 5e and told him to keep the change, he thought it was Xmas. Just to note that there were 4 of us, we stopped at a cafe for two coffees and 2 cokes, the owner brought out biscuits, buns and sweetcakes out with our drinks, when the bill arrived it was less than 5e (I thought it was a mistake!, but it wasn't) Lovely, warm, welcoming people and the place was so cheap, there was a shop selling t shirts for 0.50c (40p!)
