Muir Woods tour or Rent a car?

Anyone know if it's better to take the tour to Muir Woods or rent a car for the day and make our own way up there stopping along the way leasurely? Thanks

Car would be better . What could make a difference is your arrival time and departure time. Basically how long your in port.
