Single traveller

Depends on the cruise line. Some will only make a single traveler pay 150% or 175%, but most make single travelers pay 200% (what they would've gotten if two people booked the cabin). To get the least expensive amount, book the lowest inside cabin you can find.

Since this is a Princess cruise, you'll be better off asking at the Princess forum. According to his age, he may/may not be able to book a cabin on his own. If he can, he will definitely have to pay the solo-cuiser rate, which varies with cruiselines. Princess cruisers should be better able to help you.:)

Check with Princess or a Travel Agent. I've heard that Princess has a "share program" where he agrees to share the cabin with whatever other single passenger that Princess assigns. Both would pay the regular pp cost for the cabin. If no one is assigned by Princess, the single fare is still the regular pp cost.

The down side, of course, is that the passenger would not be someone he knows. However, it could end up being a great person and good fun.
