Booking restaurant reservations in advance with kids

Hi all - we used to be avid cruisers pre-kids, but a lot has changed since our last NCL cruise. I was going to pre-book some specialty dining reservations before our cruise next month but how does it work with 2 little kids who will order off of the complimentary kids menu and we don't have the SPD package. If I only book and pay for 2 adults (for the 2 set cover charge restaurants) my reservation will not reflect the 2 kids. But I don't want to pay for the 2 kids if they decide to order from the kids menu (which is likely). If I pay for them now in order to secure the reservation (going on BA on a very busy week) will NCL refund me onboard if they only order from the standard kids menu? Thank you!!

You have to pay in advance, you will be refunded.

 

how do you go about requesting/getting a refund? does the refund get applied to your on board account? i'm in the same situation with my two boys.
