Taxi from Port on Arrival or Pre-booked Tour??

Hoping we might get some advice:

 

We will be in St. Thomas next month and wanted to go to Sapphire Beach to Snorkel and a quick stop at the Mountain Top or Paradise Point to snap some quick photos. Are we better off getting off the ship and getting a taxi right then and there or would it be better to pre-book a tour with one of the provate tour companies like Godfrey Tours or Sunny Liston?? We have been to St. Thomas many times and do not want to do the shopping portion of those tours downtown. Which would be less expensive too??

The taxi fare to Sapphire is $10-12 per person each way depending on where your ship docks. If you ask the driver to make a stop if he has other passengers he/she may not be able to stop either coming or going and may charge more than the fare to Sapphire for the stop either on the way to Sapphire or back to the dock.

 

If you have a large group (10+) you should have more flexibility.

There are only 3 of us so we might be better off booking one of the private tour companies in advance??

If you want Mountain Top and Sapphire then yes, best to see if you can book a group tour.
