Cruiser Nonna Posted March 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2017 Trying to get additional information on disembarking in Venice - have done it before but not on Regent Did you walk from the ship to the Terminal - luggage there? Or was luggage outside the ship and you took it with you to the terminal? Going to Santa Lucia train station - and have a private car waiting - but now we are thinking if we have to hassle the luggage (we do not want to walk People Mover etc) then maybe the private water taxi better idea? If anyone has done the disembarkation - your insight and help would be appreciated - Thank you
PaulaJK Posted March 16, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2017 Disembarking is relatively easy. You walk into the terminal were the baggage is arranged by color codes. Porters are available & accompany you & your luggage to the exterior [out of] the terminal. Most likely your private car driver will be waiting there, sign in hand. Cruiser Nonna Posted March 16, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted March 16, 2017 Thank you - do you remember the distance from the ship to the Terminal - once I did it was relatively close and we walked- another time they had to use a shuttle bus and the worse - the luggage was on the pier outside the ship and no porters and had to take it ourselves to the Terminal and thus why I do not want to repeat that.- but as long as the luggage is in the Terminal that should be so much easier May I ask how long ago did you do this on Regent? Thank you again for your help
PaulaJK Posted March 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2017 We have disembarked in Venice each of the last 3 years. One walks out the ramps connecting the ship to the terminal and enters the terminal immediately. I have never had your experience so hopefully others will post their experiences. Hambagahle Posted March 18, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 18, 2017 We disembarked from the Mariner at the San Basilio Cruise port. There is road access but this is NOT the main cruise terminal so best find out first before telling your car where to meet you. It is a very small port. Our cruise ended at the same time as the Volcanic ash fell all over Europe and airports etc were closed. That wasn't a problem for us because we were renting a car to drive back to Switzerland but it did mean that for others they had to take buses to Padova and stay there for several nights. Anyway - there is easy access by road to the Piazzale Roma and also there was a Regent shuttle bus (which we took). The Venezia SL station is very close to the Piazzale Roma. Very walkable from there in fact but not, especially not with luggage, from San Basilio port.
PaulaJK Posted March 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 18, 2017 We have always disembarked in the main terminal so my comments apply to that terminal. Good point about checking.
