jenseib Posted April 8, 2017 Author #332 Share Posted April 8, 2017 So depressing! These were left on our bed. Time to pack up. ccday161by Jenseib, on Flickr I can’t remember if I went to the show or not. If I did, I don’t remember much about it. Laura and Jan were getting off early and wanted to walk their bags off and Amanda was flying with them so she had to as well. Aunt Laura was worried about walking her bags off so Aunt Mary and Geoff offered to help them off and then sent their luggage through as they were flying Delta and they wouldn’t see their bags again till they landed. jenseib Posted April 8, 2017 Author #339 Share Posted April 8, 2017 I am not sure if this was mine or Claire’s Mickey bar. ccday190by Jenseib, on Flickr Claire needed to take another pill…and we sat at the table with everyone coaxing her on the best ways to swallow, chew, whatever to get it down. She popped it in her mouth about 50 times and it would sit in there forever and I can’t even see how she didn’t swallow it on accident. She was truly being a baby about it. I was starting to get really mad and annoyed but I tried to remain calm. Then she had it in her mouth and drank a bunch to try to get it down and then spit blasted it outwith her drink flying on everyone around us. I was NOT happy with her and I apologized to the family and let her know she would be chewing that pill in our room or she would not be doing anything else for the rest of the short time we had left on this ship. She promised she would. So before we left I asked Ferdi and Kwam for some pictures. ccday56by Jenseib, on Flickr ccday57by Jenseib, on Flickr They were such an excellent team. I hope to have them again if/when I sail the Fantasy again. It was time to head out now. ccday191by Jenseib, on Flickr We changed our clothes and made sure we had all we needed for tomorrow and put our bags out. Amanda and Alexis came to our room with us to help cheer on Claire to take this stupid pill. She finally chewed it up and then put on the drama of how horrible it tasted and gagged and chocked and then threw up in the sink. I am pretty sure steam was flying out my ears and she knew it. She made herself throw up. It had nothing to do with sickness. I told Claire she better leave before she got into anymore trouble with me and I did not want to hear a word about her throat hurting or any type of ailment at all. If you want to feel better you take the pill…..if you don’t take it then you have to suffer without sympathy from others. I took tissues and cleaned the sink out and rinsed it and did all I could so that our stateroom host would never have to worry about the mess. I was so mad and not a magical way to end the cruise. I then went off and just sat out on the deck and cooled off and enjoyed the last night a bit. I did calm down, but at the time it was all happening I was not a happy mom at all. I don’t know how Claire will survive as an adult if she never learns how to swallow a pill. Even Abby can swallow pills! I went back to the room to get ready for bed and Amanda brought Claire back…I guess to make sure all was good. LOL. And I was over it by then. I did give Claire a lecture about it and that it’s all in her head and these pills are smaller than the bites of steak she is swallowing. Time for bed. I was so sad this cruise was coming to end. It was just an absolute blast! Being with a big group on a cruise really is fun.
jenseib Posted April 10, 2017 Author #340 Share Posted April 10, 2017 Oct. 29, 2016, Saturday, Day 11 Port Canaveral/ Universal It was that day….such a sad day. This wonderful cruise was coming to an end. Almost everyone was flying home today…but not us! When I had been stalking flights home, the prices were just awful. I watched them for months and they went up and up and I regretted not getting them when I first looked. I then also started looking at flying home Sunday. I would much rather pay for a hotel than a flight. In my stalking I found our flight coming into Orlando drop, so I got some credit for all 3 of us (remember my Mom was flying with us). Then not long after that the flights on Sunday went down a bit so I was able to apply the credit from the first flight modification and get a lower price coming home and we were all happy. It still was not a super fantastic deal, but compared to what they had been, I was pretty happy. We pulled into Port Canaveral early and I went out to take some pictures. portc1by Jenseib, on Flickr This is one of the outdoor areas outside of the Meridian. portc2by Jenseib, on Flickr I love how the ship looks lit up and had to get a few last pictures. portc20by Jenseib, on Flickr portc21by Jenseib, on Flickr portc22by Jenseib, on Flickr A Carnival ship was also in port. portc23by Jenseib, on Flickr

jenseib Posted April 10, 2017 Author #343 Share Posted April 10, 2017 portc15by Jenseib, on Flickr portc16by Jenseib, on Flickr I got Claire up and we went and had our last breakfast. portc24by Jenseib, on Flickr We gathered our stuff and said goodbye to our ship…and I guess we waved to the Carnival Magic too! LOL. portc25by Jenseib, on Flickr The 3 of us headed off the ship….kicking and screaming….ok, I made that part up….and got a porter to help us with our bags. We found them very easily and he helped us get through customs and then we made our way over to the shuttle buses for car rentals. It found a decent car rental price that was less than having the 3 of us taking the shuttle to the airport. It took a little bit for one to come, but in reality it wasn’t too bad. But when you are ready to just leave it seems longer. Once we got over to Alamo I jumped off the bus right away to get in line and Mom and Claire waited as the bags were unloaded. portc17by Jenseib, on Flickr portc18by Jenseib, on Flickr
jenseib Posted April 10, 2017 Author #344 Share Posted April 10, 2017 I had to wait for a few people, but again, it wasn’t too long. portc19by Jenseib, on Flickr Originally I had gotten a midsize car but a few days before we cruised I decided it might be smarter to get a van with all our luggage and I was glad we did. We had a lot. We found our van and set Siri to lead us over to Cabana Bay Beach resort over at Universal Studios. We got a little turned around at first but then eventually made it. I hate when Siri says things like head Weston this road…Um..I am not in a familiar area and I don’t know which way is west at the current moment. We made our way over to Orlando….paying tolls along the way. I think I am going to invest in my own Sunpass transponder. I just think overall it will make life easier. I hate all the stopping involved in any Florida vacation these days to pay tolls and then in some cases you MUST have quarters. For the price of the transponder I think it will just give me peace of mind. We arrived at Cabana Bay, my second stay here, but a first for Claire and Mom, and parked up front and went in to check in. cabana41by Jenseib, on Flickr I LOVE this resort! I love the theming and the look and it’s just such a fun place. cabana1by Jenseib, on Flickr We got all checked in and then headed back to the van to pull over closer to our building. cabana2by Jenseib, on Flickr We creeped along the backside trying to figure out where our room was. I made Claire get out and walk along the buildings and wave when she found a room that was close to our room number so we could park in the area. Claire found some numbers that were close (she was walking on the backside and our room would be on the other side which was poolside) and waved and we parked right next to the building’s walkway and started to unload. We dragged our bags to our room which was a first floor corner room SCORE! The last time I stayed here was with my co-worker Cass and we had just a standard room. This time I got a suite so we each could have our own bed, with Claire being on the pull out couch. cabana3by Jenseib, on Flickr cabana4by Jenseib, on Flickr
