Galveston - last minute cruiser list??

We live in the Houston/Galveston area. I was recently told by someone they knew of people that had signed up for a "last minute cruiesr" list in Florida and would be notified by the various cruise lines when there was last minute availability 12-24 hrs prior to sailing.

 

First question....I thought this was discontinued after 9/11?

 

Second question....if not, does anyone know how to get on this type of list for Galveston? We have no children and are jobs are very flexible so this would be a great opportunity for us!

Your TA should have this information. Mine told me she could get me on a sailing out of Galveston if I left immediately as it sailed that day. Couldnt do it as we live 7 hours out. My TA was a little puzzled also because she thought that you couldnt sell at the last minute because of the new Homeland Security rules but Carnival was saying yes.

Did you graduate from Angleton High School in 1980? The reason I ask is that we had a Cheri in our class.

Sorry, actually graduated from home school in Iowa. I'm a Texas transplant.

 

I'll contact our travel agent. However, the person that told me about this said the individuals had signed up at the port with someone.

 

I'll keep digging around because this sounds like a great opportunity!

 

Anyone else have any ideas?
