CONEY Posted April 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2017 We had anice & restful cruise aboard the Anthem of the Seas for a 7 day cruise fromCape Liberty, New Jerseyto Nassau Bahamas. Sail date was March 12th,2017. The whole ship was spotlessly clean and all of the crew wasvery friendly and eager to help with any questions or requests. We boarded the ship about 11:00 am and was able to use ourpaperwork for any beverages or purchases before getting our sea passes (like anall week credit card) at about 1:00 pm. As soon as we got on board, which was afast and easy procedure, we were able to go to the Windjammer buffet to getsome snacks or lunch. Let's talk about the Windjammer buffet; the good news isthat it has so many items to choose from whether it be breakfast, lunch ordinner, or just late in the evening. The menu selection changes every day foreither breakfast, lunch or dinner. I enjoyed some of the different buffet foodslike; Indian or Asian foods. So, a great buffet and choices, and tasty food. Some of the Windjammer cons: get's very crowded a peak breakfastor lunch time. Breakfast time is usually very crowded. But bear in mind thatthere are other free full service restaurants or quick food places to getbreakfast, lunch or dinner. Or, for a Windjammer breakfast or lunch, go an hourearly. We liked the light breakfast selections in the Solarium Restaurant, plus it was never crowded. For dinner there are a least three free full service restaurants(white tablecloth service with great waiters) for you to enjoy dinner. The foodand service in the dinner restaurants was fine, enjoyable and tasteful. We gotdressed for the two formal nights and as required I wore a suit jacket and mywife an evening dress. It was disappointing to see some people not in therecommended formal attire dress as required. We saw a few men in T-shirts andsomeone else in a hoodie; and that was just in our dinning room proximity. Iparticularly don't like to bring any formal clothes on my cruise vacation,non-the-less, the ship personnel should either enforce the dress codes or abandonthe formal night all in most of the restaurants. There were also free fast-food type restaurants in the Promenade serving goodpizza and many snacks and beverages, all free. There are a few of the "pay for" restaurants thatare very good but not necessary for a good meal unless you want a very specialdinner. I was happy to see that there were only about four of these special"pay for" restaurants. Unlike some other cruise lines that have manymore of these "pay for" restaurants that take away lots of space thatis otherwise used for entertainment for the guests on board . This ship has a covered and heated Solarium with a forwardview of the ocean, lots of seating, several small wading pools and two hottubs. Works well on a cold or rainy day. We enjoyed the Schooner Bar, especially during the day whenthey had many fun group programs, such as; trivia, karaoke, and special musicprograms. There were a bunch of shows and movies to see mostly duringthe evening. We spent most of the after dinner time in the dance loungeswith live entertainment. By the way not too many places at night for dancingand live entertainment. We enjoyed going to the Bolero Lounge that had mostlyLatin music, but also some mixed venues that were really good. They had a bigband music one night and for several nights they had a great band called The SynergyBand (really good). The Latin Band was awesome with a great singer, the singerwould do some 60 to 80's songs too. Decent dance floor too. We didn't go to the scheduled Coco Cay since the weather wastoo rough or Cape Canaveral and Nassau Bahamas; theweather was a bit cold for the beach (70's temp) so we stayed on the ship andrelaxed and enjoyed some cocktails by the pool in the sun. I can't cover all there was to do on the ship but we had agood time and would go on the Anthem of the Seas again. We choose this cruisemostly for the very large Anthem of the Seas Royal Caribbean ship with lots todo.
