ragin_cajuns Posted April 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2017 Looking for a good seafood spot in KW to eat at when there for our cruise on Nov. Some place casual that has good fish. If anyone knows a place that has flounder that would be ideal. Thanks,
Herfnerd Posted April 6, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2017 Love Hogfish Bar and Grill but its actually in Stock Island. Conch Republic is almost a tourist trap but we eat there when we stay in KW
bhopal21 Posted April 7, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2017 Conch Republic's food has improved greatly. So much so that we had lunch there today. Half Shell Raw bar serves more seafood than any other place on the island. Right off hand, I can't recall a menu that has flounder listed. keywester33 Posted April 7, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2017 Flounder is not a local fish, so I'm not sure why you would look for it here. It will be frozen. Try snapper. It is white and flaky like flounder, but is local and fresh. I don't care for Conch Republic, but I do like Half Shell Raw Bar. I also recommend Blackfin Bistro. They have a back garden that is very casual and have excellent fresh local fish. Blue Heaven also has great yellowtail snapper.

RB Bonzo Posted April 8, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 8, 2017 Conch Republic is super touristy but seafood is very good. Wherever you go, you can't go wrong w/ a plate of Key West Pink shrimp as a starter. Other good choices,(besides Red Snapper) are Grouper and Yellowtail. bhopal21 Posted April 8, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 8, 2017 The best choices imho at Conch Republic are the Royal Red shrimp served hot with drawn butter and the tempura battered fried shrimp platter. You can't go wrong with either Mike:)

keywester33 Posted June 6, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 6, 2017 Grouper? Yes, grouper is local and widely available in season, which is May 1 to January 1. Other choices are Hogfish, mahi-mahi and cobia. As mentioned above, we also have local snapper, typically yellowtail, but you do see mangrove snapper as well.
