ALS1214 Posted April 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2017 thinking baout booking the Carnival Horizon, but the balcony rooms are pretty booked. they have a few rooms on Lido. Looks right next to pool area. I have never been on Carnival only NCL. Also is Cheers program worth it? Is there a per day drink limit?

We love the rooms on the Lido because you can easily get to your room from the pool deck. We have never found them to be noisy either. You will have to make your own call regarding the Cheers program. It's not worth it to us. There is no way we could spend $110 per day plus an automatic $15% gratuity on alcohol for the two of us. We stick to beer and have a few frozen drinks and martinis throughout the cruise and water and lemonade at meals. We also bring our two allowed bottles of wine with us. Now, if you drink expensive drinks, lots of milkshakes, energy drinks, smoothies, sodas, and coffee from the coffee bar, it might be worth it. We have just never spent $800 for the week on alcohol especially since we spend the majority of port days in port. Even on sea days, we don't spend more than $100 for the two of us. Beers are $5.50 each, drinks are $7.50- $8.75, and martinis are about $10 a piece. Hope this helps!
thephillykid Posted April 7, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2017 We have had balconies on lido and they are extremely convenient. We like being on the same deck as the pool and never find it too noisy. Really easy to go to the buffet t grab something light to eat on our balcony for breakfast. Coffee and danish with fruit works great.
lizardhowson Posted April 7, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 7, 2017 We always book Lido balcony cabins, we never hear any noise (last one was on Vista, the Horizon's sister ship for TransAtlantic). We have another Lido deck balcony booked in 2018 on Horizon. The cabins are located down two hallways that run along the sides of the ship, there are doors at the ends of the hallways closest to the Lido deck doors to pool areas, so noise never reaches the hallways or the rooms (see deck plans). These hallways are separate from the center corridor that runs from the elevators/stairways to the door that goes out onto the Lido deck (where those coming from other decks walk to get out to Lido deck activities/food)
